Aizawa leaned back as Kenji's tail speared up from below the razor sharp spike aimed for the bottom of his jaw on full display. Aizawa's hand shot out in an attempt to grab Kenji's by the tail only for his hand to pass through the scaled appendage like it was made of air.

In the next instant Kenji vanished back below the surface outside of Aizawa's sphere of perception, a fact that he was still struggling to get over. His quirk God's eye created a sphere of influence around him meaning anything or anyone that fell within its range could be affected by his nullification or lock down without him having to make eye contact with him.

Additionally as the name of his quirk suggested within his domain Aizawa was a god meaning he knew everything that happened the instant it happened, almost to the level of precognition.

Combined with reflexes honed by years of fighting to life and death Aizawa was confident in saying that in straight up hand to hand combat he was nearly unbeatable. His only weakness had been those capable of attacking him from range but even then the projectile would have to be traveling at the speed of sound to have a chance at grazing him. But that fact had changed the moment Kenji dove into the ground.

'I sensed this before when he resisted my lockdown,' Aizawa thought as he jumped into the air as the abyss beneath him rippled and four black chains snaked through the air trying to restrain him, 'Kenji can somehow manipulate space creating an artificial distance between him and any quirk that tries to touch him. Before it was only enough to weaken my quirk, his evolution must have increased the distance he can manipulate.'

As gravity took effect and pulled Aizawa back to the ground he began to widen his sphere of influence. In a matter of moments Aizawa covered the entire arena which spanned twenty five meters across.

Normally Aizawa would have been able to see through the floor as well, but there was only complete darkness like someone had wrapped a blindfold around his omniscient quirk.

Still falling through the air Aizawa glanced down at the swarm of chains rushing up to ensnare him, as they rattled together to create a near deafening and erie cacophony.

Pointing his hand down at the rising swarm Aizawa pulled on his quirk as he muttered a single word, "Lockdown."

The mass of metal links froze on the spot as the air around them became as solid as concrete. But just as Aizawa was about to land on the solidified pillar, he felt a ripple pass through the chains as his grasp on them slid off like water on a superheated pan.

The chains resumed their upward momentum but all of them passed through Aizawa as he plummeted through and landed on the ground in a crouch, 'It's more than just intangibility, he's completely untouchable. Quirks often deal with metaphysical concepts that bend the rules of reality but I've never seen them twisted to such a degree.'

Aizawa thought to himself as he glanced down at the endless abyss beneath him. While many thought of quirks as mere superpowers Aizawa and others who had taken their quirk to the absolute limits understood their true nature.

'Somehow quirks allow us to touch on the concepts and laws that bind reality together, some more clearly than others but there's always a path to follow. Each time a quirk evolves the user takes another step along that path leading to the true concept their quirk relates to,' Aizawa mind continued to race as he stared into the otherworldly dimension created by Kenji all while his chains rattled around Aizawa like wolves circling potential prey.

'I always used my quirk to even the battlefield, a universal rule that everyone who met my gaze had to follow. With every evolution my quirk followed the same pattern, my will became law like a god and even those who escaped my sphere of influence couldn't escape my gaze….until now.'

Aizawa froze as his body flushed with a familiar sensation that he hadn't felt in years and thought he would never feel again. Like a dam overflowing after trying to hold back an unstoppable tide.

A broad grin stretched across Aizawa's face as his hair floated off his shoulders and into the air, 'I guess I haven't reached the end after all.'

Reaching out with a lone finger Aizawa tapped the dark abyss spreading waves rippling across the inky surface as for the first time Aizawa manipulated the shape of his sphere of influence, flooding it through Kenji's abyss until nothing was hidden from his gaze.

A second later the floor returned to normal and Kenji was spat out of the ground and landed flat on his back, "Ow."

"You're full of surprises aren't you?" Aizawa commented as he walked over to stand in front of Kenji who slowly pushed himself upright, "You do understand that evolutions are supposed to be rare right?"

"Not my fault," Kenji said with a groan as he rolled his shoulders, "I guess I got lucky."

"I'm not talking about you," Aizawa replied as he fixed Kenji with an intense stare, "My quirk just evolved."

"Oh mazel tov," Kenji said with a grunt, "Guess that explains why you got all quiet there for a second. Though you were having a stroke or something."

"It's been nearly fifteen since my quirk last evolved," Aizawa continued as if he hadn't heard Kenji speak, "Since then I've been in more fights for my life than I can count but none of them were enough to trigger my quirk. But I have one brief training session with you and just like that I suddenly cross the threshold."

Kenji shrugged, "Coincidence?"

"I thought so, but I'm not the only one to evolve out of nowhere after being in close proximity with you," Aizawa refuted and Kenji's eyes widened in realization.

"You're talking about Tetsutetsu," Kenji said as Aizawa nodded along, "I think there's something about the nature of your quirk that somehow accelerates the evolution process."

"How would that even work?" Kenji asked even as he thought back to his earlier conversation with Mei, 'She said something similar but in her case I was just lying my way out of an awkward situation but…is it possible there's a connection.'

"So what happens now," Kenji asked as he glanced back up at Aizawa who had never looked away in the first place.

"The first thing is you swear that you won't tell anybody about what I just said," Aizawa replied as he crossed his arms, "If there's even a glimmer of truth about what I just said, you just became worth your weight in gold."

"It's not that big of a deal is it?" Kenji asked with a slightly nervous tone.

Aizawa continued to pin Kenji in place with his intense gaze, "There's no understanding how big of a deal this is. With every evolution not only do quirks awaken new abilities, but every previous function is made stronger along with the user themselves. Even right now I can tell the maximum range of my influence has almost doubled and the drop off for the potency of lockdown is far less than it was before."

"So I'm basically a never ending Alpha capsule?" Kenji asked hesitantly, still trying to understand what Aizawa was saying.

"No, like I said before, capsules can only be used sparingly. Eventually the body builds up a resistance and becomes borderline immune. If I wanted to evolve using capsules I could probably eat every single one in this Bastion and not have a thing happen to me." Aizawa replied before he started muttering to himself, "But before I get ahead of myself I need to see if there's any substance to my thinking."

Before Kenji could say anything Aizawa's head snapped up and he looked across the training hall, "Uraraka, get over here!"
