As Yvall cradles his dying sister in his arms, he realizes that his father possesses the power to bring her back to life. Chapter 1 - PROLOGUE

Further back than man and his creations, further back than man and his ego and pride, further back than man and his knowledge that he is the apex being on Earth, lived the true apex beings. Like man, their origin and reason are unknown to us or them, so devoid of purpose, they conquered. Like man, they had powers beyond the cattle and the sheep, beyond the herds grazing the fields. They conquered and conquered until there was no more land left.

And that's when the borders between each goliath's territory were drawn. Each wanting more land to control and yet at a standstill. If one moved to take the other's land, another would simply take theirs. So they continued to stew in their own domains for millennia, with each passing decade, their minds growing more out of tune, until invaders came, without divine abilities such as they had, instead, minds of infinite magnitude, determination to dominate all, a determination that was bafflingly stronger than theirs, and so forth the new territories were drawn, ones that favored the invaders. There were so many of them after all, so loud, and busy, and fast.

Before the goliaths knew, they had control over the very elements themselves. They could destroy the dark, defy the water, control the animals. Though the power they held was magnificent, their power lied in their numbers, and so the giants held their territory tighter than they had ever, for the lands could only belong to those who could take it.
