It's been six years since that day; at least I have someone to celebrate my birthday with now. But I guess Phoebe isn't a human, so does it matter? This world was thrown into disarray, with all existing laws erased, not that the laws stopped people to begin with. Though there is one force that rose to prominence, respected and feared throughout, called the guild. They rank your skills from A to F in the abilities the new world 'blessed' us with; they can also assign jobs to those 'blessed'. Today is the day I sign up to be a member of the guild, like a member of one of those adventuring guilds that appear in stories all the time. I head out to the nearest guild center, which won't take too long since I can fly on my scythe like a broomstick from the classic witch stories. When I walk into the center, I ask the desk lady if I can sign up to be a member of the guild. She asks which blessing I have gained: adventuring/magic, divine prowess, high intelligence, or possibly a game system, as those are some of the more common ones that exist in this new world. The desk lady realizes she hasn't asked my name or age, so she does so. Although the guild has age restrictions, they're not very well enforced. The restriction was the age of 12, which I just barely passed today. I respond to her questions cheerfully "I turn twelve today. I am an adventurer/magician, and, well, I don't have a name.' She is slightly put off by this and asks if I have anyone to back up my age and name, but by this time I already have a not-so-happy expression on my face. I tell her I'm an orphan. She lets it go but asks me if I want to give myself a name. Since she's the first person to be nice to me, I tell her to choose my name. She said she'll think of it while I do my practical so that they can assess my ranking. In the practical, I ask if I can test archery, and they allow it. They set up some targets for me to shoot. I summon a bow with magic and shoot, hitting bullseyes, so I pass. But since every test costs money, I can only test once, and as such, I was ranked F, even though I'm a lot stronger. After the test, the desk lady said she thought of the name Nex. I like it, so I go with it. My guild card is then issued; it has the basics like name: Nex, Gender: M, Age: 12, along with a picture. I have dark red eyes and mid-length black hair. I don't have a very dark complexion, the keepsake that I've had for years, even though I have no memory of my parents, is a plain ring with symbols inscribed on the inside, but when the world shattered, it changed, and now it can turn into any accessory of any shape or form I want it isn't shown in the picture but I wonder if it was better in there or not. I bid her farewell for now and go to the quest board to get a quest. The guild has ranked the quests from rank A to F; they say you can only accept solo requests up to one rank above yours, but if you just sign off so that no one can complain that it was their fault, they will let you do any rank quest. But even if I'm confident, I go with a rank E quest to hunt wild rabbits. I have to make a bit of a journey for this quest, but it doesn't matter to me since I never really stay in the same place. I check in with the desk lady and head out to finish the quest.
