A heavy silence smothered the room after Jones' valiant proposition. The air crackled with a tension that threatened to snap. Elijah, however, was the first to break the suffocating quiet. He shook his head, a grimace twisting his features.
"That's… a dangerous gamble, Jones," he said, his voice tinged with concern. "We can't be certain how the Onis will react. The Chronicles might describe them as focused on Kitsune, but…" he trailed off, his gaze flicking towards Jones with a flicker of worry.
"But what if they don't differentiate?" Agatha finished the thought, her voice barely a whisper.
"The Onis are driven by one singular purpose, to eliminate a Kitsune," Elijah continued, his voice low and serious. He paused, letting the weight of his words sink in. "If they sense the Nightingale Fox within you, Jones… they'd likely consider you a target. Even the fox's immense power wouldn't stand a chance against an entity designed to eradicate its very essence."
