Chapter 24 - Desperate Measures

The heavy oak door creaked open, and Eleanor stepped into the main hall, the weight of the revelation pressing down on her. Jacob sat by the window, sharpening his silver knife with a focus that bordered on aggression. Abigael paced restlessly, her scowl deepening as she spotted Eleanor. Michael propped up on pillows on the makeshift bed in the corner and watched them both with a grimace.

Eleanor cleared her throat, the sound echoing in the tense silence. "I need to talk to all of you."

The room fell still. Jacob glanced at Abigael, his brow furrowed, before sheathing his knife and turning towards Eleanor. Abigael, however, remained by the window, her arms crossed tightly.

Taking a deep breath, Eleanor began, "We learned something new about the Deucalion." Her gaze flickered to Elijah, who stood by the doorway, a silent observer.

"New information?" Jacob asked, his voice guarded.
