Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: "Gear Up and Level Up"(2)

A couple more days went by. Zeeth and Harson seemed very sure of themselves now. They were getting good at training and could handle the fights with the creatures without us holding their hands.

"Are we going back to the fourth floor today?" Jenna asked. She sounded excited to see what's next.

Zeeth rubbed his shield and said, "We're ready. We're waiting by the mirror, just like always."

"Yeah, it's the fifth floor today, right?" I confirmed.

"Yep," Iselle said.

"Really? The fifth floor?" Jenna looked surprised.

Then, the left mirror started glowing softly.

I knew we were about to face another battle.

The fifth floor was tougher than before, but we knew the tricks to get through. I was confident.

"This time might be different. We'll have more freedom, but we need to be careful," Iselle warned.

"Got it! We'll be careful," I promised.

Somebody sounded a bit rough in their response.

\[Climb the Tower, Save the World!\]

\[Main Jail: Floor 4\]

We stepped into a new place.

It was a city made of stone buildings.

It wasn't a modern city; it looked old-fashioned, with brick roads and a tall tower.

I checked our surroundings.

We didn't get any mission details yet, so we had some time to get ready.

"There are no monsters here," Aaron noticed.

"Yeah, I see that," I said.

Usually, when we arrived somewhere, we'd have to fight right away. But this time, the city was empty. No monsters, no people.

"This isn't a rescue mission," I sighed.

I was hoping for a fight.

"Okay, everyone! Let's check out the downtown area first. Stay together!" I ordered.

We split up, staying in formation, and headed towards downtown.

The city was in bad shape. Buildings were falling apart, and there was trash everywhere.

And nobody was around.

It felt eerie.

"Suddenly, Harson shouted, 'Ugh, aaah!'" I said.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

He pointed at a building where we saw a skull.

I tried to go closer, but there was a barrier blocking the way.

"Why are there buildings but no people?" I wondered.

Zeeth and Harson looked uncomfortable.

"Let's keep going," I said.

We walked towards downtown.

I saw some dried bloodstains near the city walls.

"We're getting closer," I thought.

As we got closer, the buildings looked even worse. There was debris everywhere, and we saw some human bones on the ground.

This city had been attacked.

When we got to the central square, it was the same. No monsters, no people.

"This is different from what we're used to," Jenna said.

"We're just getting started," I told her.

The bosses on each floor were always different, and this one looked tough.

"When will the enemies show up?" Aaron asked.

"We'll wait and see," I said.

The city was deserted, with bloodstains and bones everywhere. We still didn't have a mission.

I made a decision.

I pointed to a collapsed tower and asked Jenna if she could climb it.

"Go up as high as you can and see what's there," I said.

"Okay!" Jenna agreed.

She started climbing, using her skills to move up carefully.

"I can't go any higher!" she called down.

"What do you see?" I asked.

She hesitated before saying, "It's the city, and…"

"She's not sure," I realized.

"What's there?" Aaron asked.

"There are thousands of trolls heading this way," Jenna finally said.

"Thousands?" Aaron was shocked.

"Yeah, thousands," Jenna repeated.

\[Warning!\]

\[Floor 5.\]

\[Survival Mission!\]

\[Stay alive as the trolls approach!\]

\[1846 Trolls on the way\]
