Chereads / Villain's Return from Retirement / Chapter 4 - First Victims

Chapter 4 - First Victims

Viktor was at a loss for words at the behavior of the woman who barged inside.

She was one of the three girlfriends, Namira, and is now his girlfriend.

My wife wouldn't want me to live with another girl, even in this state, so I'd break up with her.

Aside from the fact that his heart was still on his wife, having Namira around, who is largely a burden, is not an ideal situation to achieve world domination. If anything—anyone around him should be extremely useful.

Heading to the bedroom, Viktor was fully intent on kicking her out.

Upon reaching inside, Namira was lying on the bed playing with her phone defenselessly.

Even though Viktor was around—she had already taken off her baggy black jacket, which left only black shorts and a black crop covering her body. Her exposed skin, was there for him to see, and she was also extremely fit—making her more compelling.

For a second, the sight caught Viktor off-guard.

Why is she kinda...?

Realizing what he was thinking about, Viktor quickly shook his head.

Clasping his hands together, he looked up and prayed for forgiveness to the woman above.

Dear wife, I apologize for tainting your holiness in my mind for thinking of another girl. Please—spare this lost one, the spatulas. I promised that I would somehow work this long-distance thing we have going on, though you know I'm probably going to fail.

Just then, a voice snapped him out of prayer, "What are you doing? Go on, I'm sore,"

Namira gestured with her legs, signaling for him to aim for her thighs.

Viktor was irked by her tone, wanting to smack the hell out of Namira.

Before he could utter a word, Namira, recollected something important, "Oh, and by the way, Baron—and his stupid goons might be on their way here. I had a run-in with Hana—and gave her a little taste of her own medicine. Just thought I'd warn you,"

Upon hearing this, Viktor froze as he couldn't believe what he had just heard.

In the next second, he exploded, "Again?! Are you sure you're not trying to get me killed?!"

Hana is the sister of the local gang, the Blackout Gang's leader, Thomas.

He was a Sorcerer of the lowest kind, a measly first-star Sorcerer, with a water nexus—but a first-circle Sorcerer like him is multiple times stronger than a normal person without any form of enhancements and is rather rare in this part of the neighborhood.

And if he was also capable of casting spells, then he could easily destroy Viktor right now.

Even if there were a hundred copies of him, Thomas would easily wipe him out.

Moreover, Namira was also the one who caused the protection tax to be increased.

She argued and insulted Hana recently, that's why.

This woman... she didn't even know that her boyfriend died from exhaustion because of her.

Baron, on the other hand, served as one of the captains, under the Blackout Gang—and was the person responsible for Viktor's neighborhood. Surely, Baron was coming here not only to collect protection tax again to pester Viktor, but also to beat him and Namira up.

Just then, two panels showed up.

...

⌠A Sub Mission has been issued⌡

Sub Mission: First Victims

Rewards: D-grade Skill Card Selection and 1.000 Cyber and Mana Points.

...

Not expecting to gain missions, Viktor scanned through both missions and frowned.

He was excited about the rewards, but that was short-lived as he saw the Sub Mission.

Aside from feeling mocked by the details, he was also skeptical of a word on the details.

"Defeat? I don't need to kill them, right?" He uttered questioningly.

⌠Host needs to kill them, 'defeat' signifies an incapacity for retaliation in perpetuity⌡

"What makes you think I'd do that?" Viktor taunted, not wanting to kill.

⌠After a few minutes, the host already lacks determination⌡

⌠Achieving world domination appears to be unlikely⌡

Viktor clicked his tongue as he could only rub his forehead in response.

He was planning on not killing anyone, but he knew deep down that it was impossible.

In his journey for world domination, killing others is unavoidable.

"At least I have to make some boundaries. As long as the people I killed are bad people, then it should be fine," Viktor whispered, talking to himself. Even if he must be willing to kill, there is a need for a boundary.

Now, he could only hope that Baron and his goons are assholes of the worst kinds.

Out of instinct, Viktor headed out of the bedroom and peeked through the windows.

Just as his instincts told him, Viktor spotted Baron, a burly figure with a shaven scalp, coming alongside his cronies—making their way toward his residence. Observing them discreetly—a smirk graced Viktor's lips as he witnessed Baron callously spitting at a homeless who tried to ask for some money.

"Bad people, check!" Viktor mused in delight, he didn't need to hold back.

However, he saw that Baron and his group had guns.

No matter how resourceful he becomes, facing six people with guns would be a suicide.

"Hey! What's wrong with you? I asked you to massage my legs,"

Coming out of the bedroom was Namira, only complaint gushed out of her mouth.

Pivoting to face her—instead of answering her question—Viktor asked a question of his own, "Do you have any hexs that I can use? Baron and his group are coming—and taking them out is going to be hard without a hex"

"What makes you think I have one? Also, since when can you shoot?" Namira added.

But this only made Viktor squinted his eyes.

"Stop with the act," He said nonchalantly. "I know that you are sent here by my family. Firstly, you have an extremely fit body for someone coming from the suburbs. Second, knowing that I could not defend myself and would probably get beaten up by Baron, you didn't seem to be afraid that he might go after you. Third, I referred to a gun as hex, and you understand it,"

Viktor didn't even try to gauge Namira's identity, he only picked up the obvious cues.

He could instantly tell that she was sent here from the Hunter Family.

To keep an eye on him probably, he's not sure.

Just to make sure that he was correct—he referred to a small plasma gun as 'Hex' which was a term mainly used by people trained in combat schools. It was nicknamed that—because all updated combat suits around could block a small plasma gun easily. So anyone who got hurt by it felt like they were slapped with misfortune.

In a suburb without any combat schools around, it was weird for Namira to know that.

Upon hearing this, her eyes widened as she didn't expect Viktor to be that sharp.

But then again, Viktor had never been that sharp.

"No, I left my equipment in my compound," Namira finally replied, shaking her head.

Viktor's tongue clicked in frustration at the news.

Dealing with Baron and his gang without a firearm would be quite a challenge. Yet, a glimmer sparked in his eyes as an idea took shape. Making haste, he began ripping his shirt, creating holes across it.

"What are you doing? Are you trying to mimic a bum and flee?" Namira raised a brow.

Viktor brushed her questions and said, "Give me a black eye,"

Namira was confused at the request, she was not expecting to be asked that.

"Come on, don't be shy. Give me a fat punch right here," Viktor added, pointing at his face.

Listening to his tone which sounded annoying—Namira didn't ask further, and gave Viktor a heavy punch to the right side of his face. If he wanted a black eye that much, then she was not going to shy away from it.

Meanwhile, Baron and his group reached the front of a house.

Calling it a house was an overstatement, it was two stories but extremely small and cramped against neighboring structures. It was a relic of a bygone era, made of weathered bricks and adorned with a solitary air conditioning blower reserved only for the poorest of the poor.

"Is it really this one?"

"Yep, I've been here multiple times"

"What the fuck are you doing in this bum of a place multiple times?"

"Just wait and see, she's damn hot"

"Now you made me excited. If she's not hot I'm going to shove your head against the wall"

"I heard she had a boyfriend, he cried the last time he got punched"

"Really? That's pathetic and hilarious at the same time"

"Who cares? I'm going to have a go with her and let Mr. boyfriend watch if I have to"

"Shut the fuck up! We're here for payback for Sister Hana,"

Baron glared at the others, silencing them—they were here for revenge, not for fun.

Going against Hana one time is fine, but the second time is unacceptable.

Not to mention, Namira hits Hana which is a slap to the entire gang's reputation and needs to be handled appropriately. Cracking his neck, Baron prepared himself and immediately kicked down the door with one strike.

Under his strength, the door got busted open easily.

Before he could get inside, he was greeted by the sight of a man in a pitiful state.

It was Viktor, and he was kneeling and seemed to be crying.

Seeing the state of the supposed boyfriend of Namira, the five people behind Baron laughed as Viktor was even more pitiful than the rumors. It seemed like he was beaten up, by his own girlfriend, and had been crying.

Namira must've forced him to deal with the consequences of her daring actions.

And now, he is prepared to beg his way out.

"Did you get beaten up by your girl? Man, I pity you,"

"Guess you're not man enough for her, let me have a go with her. I'll show her a real man!"

"Are you told to deal with us by her?"

Looking at Viktor, Baron squinted his eyes, "Where is Namira? Don't even try to hide her"

Inside, he was disgusted by Viktor as he was a man, but he was more pitiful than a child.

"Please..." Wiping the tears from his face—Viktor stood up meekly—and strode closer. "I am sorry for my girlfriend's action, you can punish me, but don't touch my girlfriend. Her fault is my fault, so take it out on me,"

Upon hearing this, Baron sighed as it was really what his goons said.

Viktor seemed to be really beaten up by Namira to deal with them.

As he got closer, Viktor bent down seemingly wanting to kiss Baron's feet as he was pleading to let Namira off the hook. But as he was halfway down—Baron's eyes widened when he saw Viktor grabbed his own gun from its holster.

It also caught the other men off guard, not expecting Viktor to retaliate.

"You mother fuc-"

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

Expertly—Viktor shot Baron beneath the chin—preempting any retaliation from him, who was the most dangerous one before shooting at the other five men before any of them could take their guns out.

In a matter of seconds, he neutralized the entire group, leaving them lifeless on the ground.

Coming out of the bedroom, Namira was shocked to see the sight.

"He dispatched them all, effortlessly... since when is he able to act and kill like that?"
