Chapter 1 - Corruption

Page 1: A Mysterious Boy's Contemplation

As I sat in the classroom, surrounded by the monotonous drone of my classmates and the stifling air of conformity, my mind wandered far beyond the confines of these walls. I am just a high school student, but my thoughts are consumed by the concepts that define this wretched society.

The stupidity of beliefs and myths that hold sway over people's lives is a constant source of frustration for me. How can we, as a society, claim to be rational and enlightened when we are so blinded by our own biases and prejudices? It seems that hypocrisy runs rampant, and critical thinking is a rare commodity.

Lost in my thoughts, I find solace in questioning the norms and challenging the status quo. I refuse to conform to the expectations placed upon me by this foolish society. Instead, I choose to observe and analyze, pretending to be a fool in a world that often rewards ignorance.

But my daydreaming is abruptly interrupted as the teacher's voice pierces through the haze. "Kuzo!" she calls out, her tone laced with annoyance.

I snap back to reality, realizing that I have been caught in my own musings once again. The eyes of my classmates turn towards me, some smirking, others rolling their eyes. I stand up, trying to appear attentive. "Yes, ma'am?" I respond, my voice tinged with a hint of curiosity.

The teacher sighs, her frustration evident. "Kuzo, how many times do I have to tell you to pay attention in class? You can't just drift off into your own world all the time. This is important information that you need to learn."

The class erupts into laughter, their mocking tones filling the room. I feel their eyes on me, their judgment piercing through my facade. But I refuse to let their laughter deter me. I know that my thoughts and observations hold more weight than their shallow conformity.

I offer a tight-lipped smile, masking my true emotions. "I apologize, ma'am. I'll try to focus more," I say, my voice steady despite the turmoil within. Deep down, I know that my mind is capable of so much more than what this education system can offer. But for now, I must play the part of the clueless student, hiding my true thoughts and observations beneath a facade of indifference.

As the class continues, I retreat into my own world once more, my thoughts swirling with ideas on how to navigate this society of hypocrites and challenge the stupidity of myths and beliefs. I yearn for a world where critical thinking is valued, where authenticity is celebrated, and where true wisdom prevails.
