The orange glow brightening the midnight sky, grows dimmer.
The sound of the faraway chaos fades as a young girl sprints through a dirt path covered in dry, dead leaves. Her steps falter as her feet sink into thorny branches, yet she continues.
She stops abruptly and turns around. A look of sorrow filled her face, a lone tear, sliding down her face. She closes her eyes for a moment then opens them. This time a fire, more fierce than the flames illuminating the dark sky appears in her eyes.
A long, determined stare at the scene one last time and she turns around and starts running again.
A streak of light flashes in the sky, brightening the entire forest. For a moment, a glimpse of a figure stops her dead in her tracks.
  Â
A newly appeared figure, clad in a black raincoat. In another flash, a metal illuminates in the dark. A revolver. '1720R'.
Her eyes widened in shock at the new face. A terrifying thunder echoes in the sky. Betrayal. That's what she feels at this moment.
  Â
She takes a step back as the dark figure points the gun towards her. Soon heavy drops start falling from the sky, accompanied by angry thunder.
 Â
Water runs down her face, mixed with tears. The sound of heavy rainfall drowning the metallic click of the revolver.
    Â
"Run!" A gunshot echoes, and the dark figure falls on their knees, clutching their legs. A sliver of dark hair catches her eyes.
   Â
She nods and sprints in the opposite direction. One more gunshot echoes in the night, then it becomes quiet.
  Â
Her steps stop at the edge of a cliff. Heavy rain mixed with the roaring sound of waves, sent a shiver down her body. There was no escape.
A broken laugh leaves her mouth as she stares at the crashing waves.
"Don't."
She turns around to face the owner of the voice. Dark, deadly eyes meet hers. A young boy, his face remains calm, but anger simmers behind them.Â
His face breaks into agony as he extends forward a hand, begging her to hold it with his eyes.
"Goodbye. You are the best thing that happened to me." A teardrop slides down and gets merged with the soft, broken smile on her face.
"Don't" His deep voice breaks "Take my hand, my Rose." He takes a step forward. Her face morphs into raw pain.
"I love you."She smiles at him and then… jumps.
