But still Ella couldn't quite get herself to eat the food on her laps. She looked around and was lost of what to do. More so, she was hungry!
As she ponder on what to do, the first lady sat down beside her.
"Thanks for speaking up for us!" She said as Ella looked at her.
"It's okay, at least I don't get to eat alone." Ella smiled as she spoke.
"The thing is," The lady looked around as she spoke. "No one had ever done that for us, if not our great queen who is not with us. The last time we actually ate something was…." As her voice died down, so did her eyes.
Ella held her tray of food tightly as she listened to her. "But how can you live this long without food?" Ella had to ask in a whisper.
"We survive any way we could. Lucinda won't hear anything of it, while, not until you came." The lady smiled as she ate her food.
