Chapter 5 - Undead Assault

*phhhh!*

Skeleton's knife stabbed Dread's thigh without it knowing. Due to the 900% stat increase, the blade only made a shallow cut. The skeleton used its two hands, aiming to dig the knife deeper into the fresh.

When the tip of the blade reached the bone, Dread's instincts went alive and tried to respond to the attacker. Unfortunately, the skeleton swiftly moves around and successfully evades the rotting hands on the way.

Yorui watched the scene in amusement as the skeleton provoked the Dread, luring it away from the other Dreads.

There was no need to command it verbally, summoned creatures from skills can sense the will of its summoner. Unlike other summoned creatures though, skeletons and other undead creatures follow the fighting styles of its summoner. It requires the Necromancer to be skilled in close combat for its summons to be valuable in battles.

Using its small frame and agility, the skeleton dodged everything the Dread's attack. In frustration, the Dread stomped the ground, creating a shockwave. Skeleton's bones were fragile, when a pebble launched at it's direction with a force of ten adult men, its spinal cord shattered.

Dread walks to the skeleton slowly, as if ridiculing its demise. A power of ten men is something difficult to defeat, yet even with that power, its intelligence stays the same. Yorui came from behind, he raised Phothone and struck the calf of Dread.

Failing to balance, Dread fell. But before its head hits the ground, another bash from Phothone strikes the head. With the overwhelming force, the brain inside of Dread implodes.

"You did well!" Yorui glanced at the broken skeleton. Without a proper frame, the Flame of Will disappeared in the skeleton's eyes.

'It's one versus eight now' Yorui thinks to himself.

'It's unfortunate that I can only summon 1 skeleton at a time' he sighed, proceeding to use his skill again.

"[Summon Skeleton], you know what to do"

Like the first one, the second picked up the knife on the ground, this time, it raises its other hand to Yorui expecting something. Bewildered, Yorui handed another knife to the skeleton.

'A dual wielder, didn't think I could get one in this low level skill' He watched as the skeleton did the same attack pattern as the previous one.

What he didn't notice, aside from the Flame of Will, another energy entered the skeleton.

*Phhhh!!!*

In a single strike, the blades blinded the eyes of the Dread. Blinded, the Dread used its other senses to locate the attacker but it was in vain.

Skeletons don't emitted any smell. The movements of the skeleton was also very nimble and soft, making it almost impossible to project the exact location.

The skeleton dropped both of its knives and picked up a rock the size of a child. It managed to throw the rock at the Dread's back but it didn't do much damage.

Seeing the situation, Yorui assisted the skeleton. He knew that even with all force, the skeleton will never be able to kill the Dread.

He bashed the head of the helpless Dread with a single strike, imploding another brain. All this time, his other skill; 'Death Mark' helped him deal more damage than it should.

Death Mark is a passive skill, it marks all the users deemed enemies in a large area. Enemies with a mark will receive 100% more damage, 100% chance of failing to evade attacks, and 100% chance of receiving fatal damage. If the user used Death Mark on multiple enemies at the same time, the effectiveness of the skill reduces by 20% per additional mark.

In the past, Yorui acquired this skill when he completed his fourth class mission. Pertaining a great leap in power at that time.

Moving on, Yorui and the second skeleton baited the other three Dreads successfully over a course of ten minutes. On their 6th time however, something went wrong. The unresponsive Dreads suddenly became conscious, they attacked the second skeleton first as a group, mutilating any of its bones into pieces.

Finishing their target, their heads moved symmetrically towards Yorui's hideout. In an instant the skeleton died, Yorui's senses immediately flared up. Dreads don't move that way, even in the future the Dreads are mindless monsters. There is only one possibility of this uncommon behavior.

'Someone is controlling them, a Traitor!'

Yorui looked around the place, scanning the traitor's location. Mana permeated through the air, the extreme stench of it didn't escape him.

"Don't hide yourself, we've already discovered you bastard!!!" The voice echoed across the street.

*Thud!* *Thud!* *Thud!*

With consecutive thuds in front, Yorui understood where the confidence of these traitors was coming from.

All of them had weapons but not just any weapon, mana imbued weapons!

"Heh! Look at you, I thought the ones who were killing my minions are a strong guy, but it turns out to be a weak, fragile boy!" The traitor lifted his hood, revealing a scarred face.

His companions laughed at his remarks, they showed off their weapons with a blue glow.

"Boss, I saw his skill earlier, it's a weak skeleton, I bet I can kill that thing with a single swing!" One of the annoying traitor started bluffing.

"Boy! You heard my little friend here. Show us your skill or you will be the food to those hungry dogs!" He waved at the Dreads, thinking the 'weak' guy would be scared.

Yorui who's silent the whole time, decided to obey their request. Or so they thought.

He immediately summoned the skeleton and marked the annoying guy alone with the Death Mark.

Upon summoning, the Flame of Will lit up its inanimate body, along with the strange energy like the second one. Dual wielding the knives, it rushes towards the annoying man.

The man smiles, he raises his mana imbued sword, ready to slash the skeleton in a single blow. In seconds, the third skeleton was almost face to face with the man. The traitor moved, slashing the skeleton to pieces.

Or so it thought...

Before the man completes his sluggish slash, skeleton stepped back a little, dodging the attack. It jumped to the sword, using it as a medium to overcome the height difference.

With a swift move, it dug the two blades to the traitor's eyes, blinding him. It didn't stop there, it picked up the dropped mana sword and shoved it to his crotch.

"Arghhhh!!!"

"Arghhhh!!!"

Screams of defeat and pain can be heard through the whole street. The battle only lasted in less than a minute but the change in atmosphere is visible to the naked eye.

Big man and his other companion watch in horror, realizing they make a big mistake. The companion rushed towards Yorui with his mana spear. Only to be decapitated by Phothone.

Yorui smiled, licking the blood that splattered in his face. Like a psychopath who enjoyed bloodshed, he reaches his arms and signals Big man provocatively.

"Are you coming or not?"

Big man knows this was a trap but there's no going back, both of his companions are dead and he's the only one alive. Yet.

Doing something the other guys forget, he activated his skills 'Tense' and 'Juiced' along with his passive skill 'Iron Body'.

But as his muscles enlarged and released steam, a hole was made to the center of his body. Yorui moved first, not letting him transform.

Big man was in shock, not expecting this 'weak' guy to be so petty. He recoiled himself but found that he couldn't move, the mana sword in the skeleton's bony hands shoved directly at his flower region.

"Hedivi, Matanek, Aregul"

"[Fireball]"

Yorui releases a magic point black, directly at the big man's face. It burned fiercely, not leaving even the skull.

He threw the bodies towards the Dreads, they mangled every single flesh of their former controller.

The traitors may be immune to the passive attack of Dreads but their flesh is an exemption.
