Chapter 173 - Chapter 173: Darkseid

[Anthony's POV]

Apokolips

"You're a member of the League? That's pretty weak."

Shinoa said mockingly, easily slicing off the head of a dragon-like creature that had grown from the mutated Martian Manhunter's arm.

"Although I can feel you trying to mentally crush me..."

After saying this, she swiftly leaped into the air to dodge a concentrated ultraviolet blast from Starfire's hands.

In the next moment, she was above her and sent her descending down with a kick.

"And for the finishing touch…"

She spun around while cutting off several heads of the creatures sprouting from the Martian Manhunter.

Then she sent an energy slash from her scythe that destroyed his iron legs.

Finally, she landed on the head of the struggling Starfire, driving her to the floor and knocking her out of the fight.

Meanwhile, Rias shredded Hawkman's wings and knocked him out with a blow to the head.

Hermione created a magical barrier that held Wonder Woman, and she maintained it even though it was difficult.

"I see you've got things under control here. Let's proceed according to the plan. If necessary, I'll teleport to you."

I told the girls, Clark, Constantine, Robin, and Raven.

The latter two hadn't had the chance to contribute to this battle, but they nodded anyway.

Metropolis

"So you had a fight with that handsome guy, huh?"

Harley Quinn said, approaching Lena.

"It's more of a disagreement."

She replied calmly, then sighed and added.

"I just didn't expect him to lie to me…"

"They're all like that."

Harley twirled a gun in her hands.

"Mister J lied to me all the time… beat me… didn't trust me… abandoned me… and yeah, he mocked me too. So all men are jerks."

She concluded emphatically.

"Hey!"

Captain Boomerang exclaimed.

"Not all of us!"

"Have you looked at yourself? Your boomerang hasn't grown up yet, he-he-ha."

She laughed at him.

"Tony's not like that. We still love each other. We just… need to talk, and why am I even saying this to a criminal?"

Lena asked aloud as if she did not understand why she was sharing so much information with a mentally unstable criminal.

"Love each other? That sounded like you're lovers."

Lois Lane said, covering her mouth with her hand, expecting everyone to laugh… but Lena didn't.

"What? Seriously?"

She looked wide-eyed at her.

"We love each other."

Lena shrugged as if it were nothing strange.

"That's unexpected."

Lex drawled.

"By the way, we'll have guests in a minute."

He looked at the monitor, where he checked the surveillance cameras.

A hard-light barrier was already activated around the building, along with turrets loaded with kryptonite bullets.

"Wait… but you're brother and sister… like, biologically."

Lois still didn't get it.

"My brother and I have always been each other's only support… and now I'm really ashamed of my recent outburst."

Lena's voice genuinely carried regret.

"So much has happened, and then there's this lie…"

"He killed my version in your world… I'd be angry too."

Lex said simply.

"You abandoned us, so honestly, I don't care about your death. I just didn't expect Tony to lie to me… sorry if that sounds harsh."

"It's fine, I understand. But lovers? Heh, keeping the Luthor bloodline pure, huh? If you're happy…"

He made a vague gesture while thoughtfully looking at her.

Their conversation was interrupted by an earthquake and loud, ear-piercing blows.

The barrier held for a couple of hits before completely shattering under the attack of Paradooms.

These creatures broke through the wall and were about to attack everyone standing there when they suddenly erupted in purple flames, screaming in agony.

"What hideous creatures."

Lena couldn't stand the sight of these snarling beasts; her eyes took on a red hue, and the ring on her hand warmed up.

A powerful laser beam incinerated hundreds of Paradooms along with the remains of the city behind them.

This was only the beginning as thousands of monsters began to go in.

"Forward!"

Winter summoned hundreds of snow-white Grimm, armored warriors, and even a couple of Wyverns, who attacked Darkseid's warriors.

She also joined the battle while putting the power of Summer, Spring, Winter, and Autumn into each strike.

The Sacred Gear with Angra-Mainyu's soul fueled her soul, making her stronger with each passing second in the heat of battle.

Bane, Black Manta, King Shark, Harley, and other villains were closest to the portal to finish off the Paradooms that miraculously got through.

Lex sat in his armor.

"Oh, you bad people… resisting the will of the gods."

A woman in an Apokoliptian uniform broke through to the portal along with the Paradooms.

"Be careful, she's one of Darkseid's Furies Lashina."

Lex recognized her.

"I was supposed to destroy those breaking the machines, but instead, I'll destroy the resistance… how… delightful!"

"Not a chance!"

Lena instantly accelerated to half the speed of light and struck her.

She couldn't defend herself in time, but she noticed the attack. It didn't help her as her body slammed into a barrier created by Winter.

"We need to finish her off."

After Winter's words, Lashina's body was surrounded by barriers that ignited with fire inside, then froze, repeating the cycle several times.

"That was surprisingly easy…"

Lena muttered.

"Watch out! "

Erina shouted and pulled Lena towards her as a Paradoom nearly grabbed her.

"Don't get distracted!"

"Y-yeah."

Lena nodded and began destroying enemies with her lasers.

However, Winter's barriers holding Lashina shattered, and the burned and furious Lashina appeared.

"Argh, suffer for Darkseid!"

She charged at Erina, who was closest, very quickly... but purple flames consumed her, making her drop to her knees and scream in pain.

Then Winter used a snow-white blade to pierce her chest and end her life for good.

[Anthony's POV]

Oa

The home of the Guardians of the Universe is a rather lonely planet, except for the city where the Guardians reside and which serves as the base for the Green Lantern Corps.

At this moment, battles are raging across the planet between the Green Lanterns and Darkseid's army, with Darkseid himself at the front.

The Guardians of the Universe had taken it upon themselves to protect the universe from evil, especially after the chaos they had caused at the dawn of their civilization, which could have led to the universe's destruction.

Their past actions fueled their repentance and resolution to become the Guardians.

Currently, it was clear that the Guardians were losing the battle.

A lot of Lanterns and Guardians had already died, and the central power batteries weren't enough to stop the attackers.

However, the most powerful resistance was still alive near the statue of the central battery where the last Green Lantern had gathered.

I recognized the Green Lantern in charge as John Stewart who in the comics was a member of the Justice League and took Hal Jordan's place.

He was now speaking of Willpower and their sacred duty to stop the tyrant.

There were hundreds of millions of Parademons, not counting Darkseid himself and several other New Gods.

These latter beings were as powerful, fast, and resilient as or far superior to the strongest Green Lanterns.

Therefore, I roughly understood how this would end, and so…

"Oh Holy Aspect born of the blood of the pierced god! Let your Light be unleashed from the ends of the Earth! Piercing the Heavens and Connecting the Earth, Anchor of the Storm! Subdue the god, my enemy, consume his ambitions, and shine with my will! Rhongomyniad!"

I entered the Balance Breaker with my armor enveloped with additional protection from the Sacred Gear, and four wings grew from my back.

In an instant, I aimed at the bunch of Parademons and hurled my weapon.

A flash of light and searing heat followed, illuminating the sky as millions of Parademons were incinerated in the blaze.

The invading army was destroyed in a second... but these were only the weaker minions.

The elite warriors of Darkseid were unharmed, but I hadn't tried to kill them yet.

I landed from above and hit Kalibak, breaking all of his bones, and I used the spear that was back in my hand to pierce his head.

Kalibak was Darkseid's son, physically strong… but also incredibly stupid, not even attempting to dodge my blow.

"Ugh, squashed some insects."

I said, wiping my feet on the clothes of him.

"Kalibak, what a disappointment."

Darkseid himself said while hovering above the ground with his hands clasped behind his back.

Clearly, if this affected him at all, he showed no sign of it outwardly.

"I see your relationship with your son is rather poor... though if my son were such an insect, I'd be disappointed too."

I added with sarcasm.

"Brave words for an ant. Name yourself before Darkseid, your lord and master."

He demanded, not even asking.

"You're not worthy of hearing my name, and the dead don't need it."

I said, pointing my spear at him.

Darkseid remained silent but unleashed his Omega Beams from his eyes, signaling the continuation of the battle.

The Green Lanterns charged at their enemies.

The Omega Beams moved at the speed of light, but I was quick enough to dodge them and analyze their effect.

The Omega Effect is the entropic side of Creation and quite powerful, perhaps comparable to the destructive power of the Power of Destruction.

"My turn..."

The Omega Beams couldn't hit me.

As they approached within arm's reach, reality bent away from them, causing the beams to veer off course and miss again due to the warping of reality.

It wasn't easy because the entropic effect of the beams seemed to spread to reality itself.

In the next moment, white beams shot from my eyes with magic, Ki, Aura, the Sacred Gear, and the White Lantern ring.

I saw Darkseid's eyes widen... and he chose to evade the attack.

My beams blasted through the planet's atmosphere and struck the planet itself, destroying it completely.

"For Darkseid!"

A woman shouted and attacked me.

These Furies ferociously attacked me to protect their lord along with a few other warriors.

"Don't interfere."

I caught her mace with my open hand, pulling her off balance momentarily before striking with my other hand.

I punched through her chest and pulled out her heart, but that even didn't kill her after all, she was a god.

"Harvest of the New Gods."

I then impaled her with my spear to ensure her soul would go into my medallion.

Meanwhile, other elite fighters didn't stand idle, attacking me while the surviving Green Lanterns tried to distract them.

"Where did he disappear to?"

I noticed that Darkseid was gone.

Shinoa Hiragi: Administrator-kun, Batman opened a portal for his boss to come to us. We're also under attack by some warrior women calling themselves the Furies. There was one named Stompa who fought me well, but my Dividing Gear helped me defeat her!

"That answers my question..."

I muttered, realizing that Darkseid prioritized his planet over the conquest of OA at this moment.
