Chapter 163 - Chapter 163: Second Chance

"You're all safe, don't worry."

I said while looking at Frenchie, Kimiko, and Hughie.

"..."

Starlight clearly recognized me and was somewhat shocked.

"Ah!"

The broken wall sent ripping beams through the car that Frenchie and the others were in.

It would've sliced them all in half if it weren't for the barrier I put up.

Homelander broke free with the speed of a flash and lunged at Butcher to knock him aside.

Then his gaze locked onto me, possibly because of my rather striking appearance, and he immediately darted towards me.

"I'm not your enemy."

I said as he angrily stopped a meter from me and fell to his knees.

"This is where you belong."

"W-who are you..."

He barely managed to utter.

"I..."

A strong wind rose at that moment, and the cloudy and dark sky instantly turned cloudless.

"I am the one who stands above all in this world. You are just a child in an adult's body who went through a laboratory and heartless doctors... I pity you, but you've caused a lot of pain with your strength..."

After these words, Homelander's body teleported a couple of meters towards Butcher.

Then Butcher immediately pounced on Homelander, and soon the fight moved into the sky.

Homelander tried to fly away, but Butcher grabbed hold of him.

A fight like that couldn't be hidden, and many people began recording it on their phones.

There was a barrier that seemed to limit damage to buildings and people.

"Bastard... striped motherfucker."

Butcher smirked as he sent Homelander down with another blow and then smashed his head into the ground even more.

He is now equal in strength and durability to Homelander. He can easily outmatch him with his experience and fighting skills.

Homelander had never before had to fight anyone even remotely equal to him in strength.

"Butcher is fighting Homelander hand-to-hand..."

Frenchie whispered in disbelief.

"Life didn't prepare me for this..."

Hughie still whispered in fear, clutching Starlight's hand tightly amidst the reddish lasers.

They were about a hundred meters away from us, and Butcher continued to smile as he beat him.

Suddenly, someone else landed nearby, and lightning hit Butcher, which made him flinch.

"Stay away from him!"

Stormfront shouted.

"The Nazi bitch has arrived."

Butcher smirked.

Rebecca and her son watched him admiringly.

"Believe me, I'd gladly take you down too."

"Klara Risinger, your sins are as dark as your heart... After all these years of life granted by Compound V, you still haven't changed your mindset or adapted to the world's realities. You believe that "Supes" are a brand-new race that should rule over humans, but in reality, you are drug-induced mutants."

"Shut your piehole! Who do you think you are?!"

She shouted when freezing in place as the pressure on her soul intensified.

A huge meteorite emerged in the sky that blocked the sun and made everyone freeze.

The eyes of everyone present widened in horror.

I felt the energy of belief pouring into me...

"You won't get a second chance, Klara. You simply don't deserve it."

I said, and she simply collapsed with her eyes rolling back as she relived her life in illusions of various "impure" races while retaining her consciousness.

"Homelander..."

Homelander's body ended up next to me. He... was sobbing, not understanding why this was happening.

"I'll give you a second chance."

After my words, the meteorite in the sky exploded into hundreds of thousands of pieces. Then, all those pieces teleported into space.

It was just a demonstration of power, and it was amusing to see their faces.

After my words, everyone standing here could see how Homelander was born and raised and what he had to go through in the laboratory.

They heard everything the scientists said to him...

"Why..."

Homelander whispered quietly, no longer with such a haughty gaze.

He saw the meteorite and literally "felt" coming death with his own eyes and ears like everyone else.

"Because God can be merciful—something that you can never understand. I'll return to you what you were deprived of."

After my words, Homelander glowed with light, and he... transformed into a two-year-old toddler who looked at me with curiosity.

All his mental problems vanished, and he truly became a clean slate.

"How am I supposed to handle this brat now?"

Butcher grumbled discontentedly. As he spoke, he received an elbow strike from his wife.

"Annie January..."

I said it aloud.

"Y-yes?"

She stammered, clutching her cross tightly.

"You don't know it yet, but you'll soon become the leader of the Seven, maybe even the Vought. God's justice will catch up with everyone who deserves it. Your task is to show that all of this was not in vain. Little John has become a child, but he still has the potential to become the strongest superhero. Your actions will determine who he becomes."

I looked at everyone standing here and then simply disappeared in a flash.

"... crazy day."

Mallory muttered with mixed emotions as she looked at the child.

"And this is the dreadful Homelander?"

She approached the toddler, and he smiled, reaching out his little arms towards her.

"What are you going to do with this little squirt?"

Butcher asked.

"He's become a child... and now I need to seriously rethink religion after everything that's happened and set priorities. How did I know that your arrival at my doorstep would end up in some shit..."

She corrected herself and lifted the child into her arms. Immediately, a light bathed her, and she visibly grew younger.

"Wow, you used to be a looker."

William nodded approvingly.

"I... understand now."

Grace murmured and bowed as if into nothingness while examining her new hand.

She had lost grandchildren because of the Lamplighter, but now she had a child in her arms again.

She knew who he could become... she couldn't harm the child. She wouldn't let him grow up to be who he was.

"People... did he not say whom exactly we should pray to?"

Frenchie quietly asked.

"I mean... God is God, I get it. But... can we get a bit more specific?"

After his question, silence fell.

"I guess we can't complain."

Butcher slapped Frenchie on the shoulder.

"We've dealt with the main bastard's son, and now he's messing with his diapers. With the information we have on this..."

Butcher glanced at Stormfront lying on the ground.

"We'll deal a heavy blow to Vought..."

"With my support, everything should work out."

Mallory nodded.

"And... do I feel different somehow? Stronger, maybe..."

Meanwhile, panic spread worldwide due to the appearance of the meteorite visible from the entire hemisphere.

There were religious groups that began praying again, but some stopped existing, such as the Church of the Collective.

Their leaders simply died suddenly... as did many important figures in Vought.

Stan Edgar himself confessed to all of the company's sins, and then... he too passed away.

Vought lost billions of dollars, and several top executives went to prison, but everyone knew that with so many supers, the corporation couldn't close because they might go rogue.

The Seven still remained intact after the damage.

They still represented a symbol of hope for people.

Starlight became the team leader, and Maeve regained her optimistic outlook.

They were now truly able to help people not just in America.

There were many places in need of supers' help—earthquakes, floods, and other natural disasters causing suffering.

Vought officially established the Bureau of Supes with Butcher.

He couldn't live a quiet life without a purpose, and Rebecca didn't oppose his choice.

There were few people in Vought who knew much about Rebecca and her son.

They thought they were just ordinary family.

Rebecca soon became pregnant again.

Huey and Frenchie also joined the Bureau, and Frenchie settled down with Kimiko.

MM returned to his family, but his wife had become cold toward him during his absence and his habits, and a year later, she eventually found a new man.

MM also joined the Bureau to show many supers their place if they did anything stupid.

Grace Mallory partially returned to work at the CIA with Susan Raynor, doing exceptionally well.

She could now rival even Soldier Boy in physical strength and endurance, and she was confident in her life and her child.

Little John grew into a bright child, returning the love shown to him with full force.

"It seems like a happy ending, one might say."

I remarked, finishing my observation of this world's future.

I offered a couple of blessings here and there, but nothing too serious.

It was a pleasant experiment, and I managed to answer a few questions about my divinity along the way.

In this world, I wasn't really interested in anything other than the stories and seeing heroes from a different perspective.

There were those who sought power at the cost of others, those who desired peace and tranquility, adrenaline junkies, and various other personalities.

In this world, they didn't need a god or someone else to help them solve their problems because they were capable of solving them themselves.

Unlike in my world, where Earth would be in great danger without the defenders, and things could go very badly due to threats beyond measure.

A few minutes later, I returned to where I had initially activated the card.

"It's been just over two hours..."

I checked my watch.

In that world, I had spent a full twenty-four hours, whereas only two hours had passed.

"Master Luthor, during your absence, old Kara expressed a desire to meet with other Kryptonians who are currently drifting into orbit on their ship."

Cortana reported it to me.

"Did our Kara tell her about them?"

"Yes."

Cortana confirmed.

"Alright, I don't mind giving them a tour, and it's probably time to check on them anyway. I believe they should be in the right condition by now."

I replied.

The Kryptonians had remained confined on their ship under Cortana's supervision, and she kept me informed about their activities.

During this time, Faora expressed a keen interest in delving deeper into Earth's history, much like the other Kryptonians.

She became more aware of the parallels between Krypton and Earth and the fact that they all originally fought on this planet.

It was their cradle of civilization, even though Krypton had become their home afterwards.

"Indeed, it's time to speak with them again. During this period, they've been free from General Zod's influence and under the guidance of Cortana and myself... ahem."

I approached the confined Kryptonians on their ship with Cortana by my side.

They looked expectant yet cautious, their expressions betraying a mix of curiosity and wariness.

"Welcome, my fellow Kryptonians."

I began addressing them with a tone conveying authority and warmth.

"I trust Cortana has been accommodating during your stay. I apologize for the necessity of your confinement, but it was important for ensuring the safety of both you and the planet Earth."

Faora nodded respectfully and seemed to have taken on a leadership role among them.

"Master Luthor, we understand the need for caution, especially after what happened with General Zod. We appreciate learning more about this planet and its history."

"That is precisely why I've arranged this meeting."

I replied while gesturing for them to gather closer.

"Earth has a rich and complex history, filled with moments of triumph and tragedy. You will learn more about the world and feel more connected to it if you learn about the societies and cultures."

Then Cortana projected images and data onto a nearby screen while displaying Earth's historical events, cultural artifacts, and scientific achievements.

The Kryptonians observed with keen interest and absorbed the information with a thirst for knowledge that reminded me of my own curiosity in exploring their ancient civilization.

"Feel free to ask any questions."

I encouraged them.

"I'm here to assist you in understanding Earth and ensuring that your time here is both productive and enlightening."

Faora stepped forward, her gaze intense yet curious.

"Master Luthor, how do the inhabitants of Earth perceive our presence here? Are we seen as allies or potential threats?"

I considered her question carefully before responding.

"Earth is a diverse planet with varying perspectives. Given your origins and abilities, some may view you with suspicion. However, others recognize the potential for cooperation and mutual benefit. It will be crucial for us to establish trust and demonstrate our commitment to peace and understanding."

The Kryptonians exchanged thoughtful glances to contemplate my words.

Cortana monitored their reactions discreetly, ready to intervene if any tensions arose.

"We are grateful for your guidance, Master Luthor."

Faora said finally, her tone respectful yet determined.

"We will strive to learn from Earth's history and contribute positively to its future."

I nodded in acknowledgment while feeling responsible for guiding these Kryptonians on their new journey on Earth.

It was a unique opportunity to bridge two civilizations and foster understanding between them.

"As you continue your studies."

I concluded.

"Remember that knowledge is power, and with it comes the responsibility to use it wisely. We can build a future together where both Kryptonians and Earthlings thrive."

After that, our meeting was over, and I left them to continue exploring with Cortana's help knowing they were in good hands.

The journey ahead would be challenging, but it promised new discoveries and alliances that could benefit both worlds.

In general, it's time to talk to them again. After all, during this time, they were worried about General Zod's influence... and fell under the influence of Cortana and me... ahem.
