Once Soulen reached the top yet again, the vines opened up and revealed she was back to the spot she once was when she first noticed the flower and the vines. the sun stung slightly on her now pale skin as she growled gently to balance herself. her sword wasnt with her, nor her gun. she felt like a normal infected and it was a bit pitiful. but she was excited as well. A new life, a new experience. as long as she was careful with the humans and even infected, she would be safe.
Her eyes turned to the zombies that roamed gently. it was around 6pm now so they were all slowly waking up from their slumber. Soulen, now similar to them, watched them for a bit before remembering she could no longer speak English. She grunted in frustration as she closed her eyes and heaved a sigh. However, when she reopened her eyes, around 6 zombies had surrounded her.
She jumped a bit; surprised as she closed her eyes and awaited her next death. But after a few seconds, she didnt feel anything. only silent growls and gnarls. She opened her eyes yet again to be met with the six infected just surrounding her.
Creeped out, she made her way away from them and moved a few distance to recollect herself. The issue however, was that they followed her as she moved. Why were they following her? did she smell? what was going on? a lot of thoughts were flying through her mind. eventually, she had enough and just stopped walking which caused them to stop as well. She turned around and told them to 'Get lost' though she wasnt actually annoyed as her emotions had still not returned, but it was a bit weird they were following her. she said it once again, which were actually just grunts and growls from her. Surprisingly, the zombies turned around and walked away.
Dumbfounded, she tilted her head to the side and ordered them to stop. which they did. she proceeded to order them pick up the rocks around them on the ground which they did without question. Was she able to communicate with them? Actually, the real question was, How was she able to command them? was it because she was half zombie? or was it because they sensed she was more powerful than they were? She wasnt sure. it confused her. however, this was gonna be a good ability later in the future.
She ordered them to stop what they were doing and to continue roaming which they did as she made her way towards hope 101. while she walked, she recalled the information she had gotten from the corolla. yes it was a corolla than a tree. she at first thought it was a tree underground but that didnt make sense, and from when she was still underground, she had enough time to inspect it further. it really was a corolla of an actual tree. the question now was were was its full body. or was that its full body? There were other things she noticed about being a Revenant. She felt stronger, Faster than the average human or event the fastest athletic. Her six senses were a bit more advanced as well as she could see certain things, hear things that were further away and her sense of smell is way stronger. it was an exhilarating feeling and she was all for it
Once she noticed the huge town gates rising from the horizon, she walked towards the near by tree that was quite the distance away. There, she leaned on the sturdy tree as she stared at the guards who stood infront of the gate. with her enhanced hearing, she focused on their conversation. But due to her loosing her ability to speak, it seems she also had lost most of her English Knowledge in general. Because of this, she had a hard time understanding everything they said.
From what she could figure out from their conversation was that it had been a week since she had died. they were still looking for her or her body which was a bit weird. maybe the mayor wanted proof i was dead? that bloody-
She heaved a defeated sigh before growling gently. To be fair, he had every right to react that way. there was no way she would survive as time had passed. she would have died either way since the pills and medicine wouldn't work on her anymore and the thought of turning infront of everyone and killing someone made her.....feel nothing actually. she blinked a bit when she didnt feel uncomfortable with killing people. she didnt feel anything. she heaved a sigh before listening in again.
They must have not since her body laying on the ground which meant she transformed few seconds after she died and the flower touched her. Because where she died was not that far from the town so there was no way they wouldn't have seen her. her appearance must have made them not recognize her which was actually good. she just had to be careful since she wasnt human.
She wondered if Cassei and the rest were aright. she fought off the urge to go and visit as she knew where their camp was. she could probably use the help of the corolla to get their but decided against it. Maybe later in the future.
Satisfied, she left the tree and went the opposite direction. she walked for an hour, her fatigue very slowly rising. she barely got tired now which was probably a blessing of being half zombie. however, her hunger did grow.
She walked through the destroyed city, her growls slightly audible as she dragged her feet on the ground. her destination right now was a shop that still had some edible food intact. she needed to calm down this growing hunger. And since the infected paid her no heed, she was able to pass along them quite easily or order them to go the other way.
Finally she arrived at a run down store and entered slowly. she scanned the room gently before walking towards the working refrigerator. she opened it up and pulled out a can of baked beans. she pried the lid open and poured it into her mouth to eat. the taste was.....bland. it didnt have a sweet taste nor was it bitter. it also didnt make her any less hungry. confused, she took out other foodstuffs like cookies, frozen sausages, chips, ham. all of them didnt give her any good taste. she groaned in frustration before holding her head. her hunger did calm down a tiny bit, but it wasnt enough. she needed more. And the only thing left for her to eat was meat. Human meat. She held herself gently at the thought of it. Was that really the only thing to give her nutrition and the satisfaction of eating something? She shuddered at the thought. But it seemed hat was the only option left anyway.
Leaving the shop, she growled before making her way down the street; pushing further into the ruined city as the sky darkend and the moon rose.
After walking for what felt like minutes, eventually found a human corpse laying on the ground. It looked fresh, like he had been killed some minutes ago. There were no bite marks or gun shots. However there was half the bottom part of him missing. He must have been attacked by a very strong mutant.
She walked closer to it as the flesh suddenly became the nicest thing in the world to devour. Her mouth became watery slightly as she quickly went towards it and began munching on the body. The flesh tasted so good. A taste that felt on the class of rich people. She didn't understand how something so disgusting and unruling could taste this good and fantastic.
She kept on devouring the body of the male until she heard clattering from the left side of her position. There she saw a little girl, around the age of 8-10, staring scared at Soulen. Once her eyes met, she ran further deep into the darkness as Soulen soon regain her senses and looked down at what she was eating. She actually ate a human body.
She stared at her hands for a good few seconds before turning to the building where she saw the little girl. It was an abandoned and nearly destroyed music store that had seen the better days.
She contemplated on just leaving the girl as she didn't want anything to do with humans for now but once she heard a scream from the store, she couldn't help but run towards the girl in distress.
Entering the store through one of rhe broken windows, Soulen scanned the area for the little girl. It was dark but she could see a bit better. She quietly moved inside before hearing some rukus in the storage room.
Opening it, she saw an infected sniffing the air and scanning it's environment. Confuse by it's behavior, she entered the room as well only to spot the little girl hiding under the table.
The infected knew she was somewhere here but couldn't see her. So they were pretty dumb. Once her eyes and the girl's locked, she covered her mouth to hold back a scream as Soulen stared blankly at her.
She stared at the little girl for a few seconds, Not sure what she should do at all.
At one point, she turned to leave but stopped and rubbed her temple for a few seconds. She then growled at the infected which growled in reply and left the storage room.
Once the zombie left the room, she walked towards her girl and knelt down Infront of her.
Instinctively, she moved deeper into the cabinet where silent just stared blankly at her. After a few seconds, she held her hand out; trying to show she ment no harm.
After a few seconds, the little girl moved forwards and took Soulen's hand where she felt the cold skin of the person Infront of her.
Soulen gently helped her up as the little girl held her hand and stared up at her.
Now that she was safe, she turned to leave but her cloth was grabbed by the little girl.
"No! Don't go!" She pleaded as Soulen turned to look at the little girl. She then proceeded to crouch down and gently give her a headpat which caused the little girl smile.
"You aren't like the others. Are you human or a monster?" The little girl asked as Soulen looked at her then looked away. No reply
"Well I'm molly! Nice to meet you!" She said happily as Soulen simply nodded.
Molly was innocent, Soulen clearly would see that. And because of it, she felt the urge to protect her. Molly grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the storage room before walking towards the window and scanning her environment. Once the coast was clear, she pulled Soulen outside and turned to face her.
"Come on! Follow me! I need to get back to my family." She said as she dragged Soulen a long the road.
For a 9 year old, she was exposed. She must have had to survive for a while and learn about the harshworld. She felt slightly more matured than the average kid would be at that age. But her biggest concern now was,
Was it really okay for a kid like her to bring a monster like herself to where the other humans were..?
