Chapter 103 - Combing the Qilin Tiger

After finishing reading the post, Qin Guan pondered for a moment.

He glanced at Ruan Shu and then wiped his face with her blank eyes.

"Alright."

He became clear-headed as well. One must not blindly assume that just because one child appears well-behaved, all the other children in the world are the same.

That would be a fatal mistake!

Ruan Shu? ? "?"

Why does that brother always look at her with strange eyes?

After eating and drinking to their satisfaction, Ruan Shu and her elder brother went for a walk to help with digestion.

Behind them, the elder brother transformed into the Qilin Tiger and lounged lazily on the grass, resembling a large tiger resting after surveying its territory.

Ruan Shu walked over, her foot gently brushing against the ground. Her ocean-blue eyes appeared clearer and more translucent than the most exquisite gems in the world.

In front of her elder brother in his star-beast form, she appeared small and unassuming.

In reality, the beautiful, snow-white child resembled a little angel with soft, snow-white hair, a delicate and adorable face, and a gentle, harmless demeanor that softened the hearts of those who saw her.

As she approached the fierce and domineering Qilin Tiger, her presence became increasingly conspicuous.

Except for a few individuals with poor vision due to their species, most star-beasts have exceptionally sharp eyesight.

Due to the dominance of these animalistic beings, especially the carnivorous star-beasts with territorial possessiveness, others maintained a distance of at least a hundred meters away from Ruan Fengsi.

Of course, it wasn't just him who had turned into a star-beast; the star-beasts that enjoyed grasslands had also transformed into star-beast forms and were running on the grasslands. Some avian star-beasts even took to the sky.

There were explicit rules in the city that prohibited casual transformations into star-beast forms. As a result, many people would unleash their inner selves and indulge in their most primal form, running and soaring freely in the grasslands, forests, and skies.

Therefore, seeing Ruan Fengsi in this manner, taking up space, did not surprise anyone.

But they couldn't help but look; their eyes were mainly fixed on the snow-white, soft, human form of the infant.

Ruan Shu's vision was now excellent, but not good enough to see what people in the distance were doing. Therefore, the naive little glutinous rice dumpling had no idea that her every move was being sneakily observed by many.

She quietly approached the giant beast, lifted her little arm, and touched its fur on its massive limb before quickly retracting.

With her hands behind her back, Ruan Shu approached her elder brother's head, leaning in curiously to get a closer look at him.

It seemed like he was asleep.

Then, she quietly caressed the fur on her elder brother's cheek with a coy smile, while the sunlight shining on her seemed to radiate a soft and warm glow.

"Elder brother?"

Ruan Fengsi didn't react, but his tail twitched.

After a moment of contemplation, Ruan Shu gathered her courage and ran off to find Qin Guan.

As soon as she took a step away, Ruan Fengsi, who was still pretending to be asleep, opened his eyes and watched her departure, flicking his tail in a somewhat irritated manner.

He thought that the little one would climb up on him, but she unexpectedly ran away!

Turning his head, he watched Ruan Shu run to Qin Guan's side. She nervously fiddled with her fingers, which had turned slightly pale from her own pinching.

Ruan Fengsi's ears twitched slightly, faintly hearing the soft and timid voice coming intermittently.

"Brother... comb..."

Qin Guan was quite surprised to see Ruan Shu coming to find him.

This little one had a very gentle nature and a timidity he had never seen before, as if the slightest movement could scare her.

She had never left Ruan Fengsi's side, so it was truly surprising for her to come and find him at this moment.

One could still see her nervousness as Ruan Shu squeezed her fingers, her voice softly inquiring.

"Brother Qin Guan, do you have a comb?" "I want to comb my brother's hair."

Would you like me to comb his fur?

Qin Guan looked at her with a strange expression, but seeing the little one eager and expectant, he did not refuse.

"Yes, I do."

It turned out that Ruan Shu had found the right person; he was someone who cared about his appearance and happened to have a comb with him.

Although the style appeared more luxurious and precious, it was just a regular comb.

Ruan Shu took the comb and earnestly thanked him, then scampered back with her short legs.

Ruan Fengsi immediately pretended to be asleep, not even twitching his tail.

The obedient little glutinous rice dumpling approached the giant beast and quietly moved closer to her elder brother, gently running her soft hand over his nose.

Her elder brother was really huge, just like Dad's and Uncle Qingran's star-beasts.

Muttering to herself, Ruan Shu tiptoed over to her elder brother and began gently combing his fur on his head.

One wouldn't know the surprise until they started combing. From a distance, his thick fur looked smooth, but up close, it appeared a bit messy.

With one stroke of the comb, numerous black hairs floated out immediately.

Not dirty, just a bit hairy; was he not groomed for a long time?

She muttered softly, removing each floating hair from the comb and looking around, unsure of where to place them.

As the wind blew strongly on the mountain, the loose hairs could easily be swept away. Not wanting her elder brother's fur to be blown away, she simply put the hairs in the front pocket of her overalls.

Then she continued to comb her elder brother's fur.

Ruan Fengsi was still a bit uncomfortable because no one had ever groomed his beast form before!

Not just him, but all animals were the same. Who would let anyone other than an intimate person come near their star-beast form?

Even among family members, they wouldn't groom each other like this.

Although feline creatures are known for being relatively clean, they groom themselves regularly to keep their fur clean, and shedding is a natural process.

Of course, no one was truly a wild beast; they certainly bathed every day. They simply preferred the convenience of bathing in their human form. After bathing, their star-beast form would be clean, but the floating hairs would still be there, and the fur would still look a bit messy.

With each stroke of the comb, Ruan Shu would remove a tuft of floating hair, but the fur on her elder brother's beastly form didn't seem to diminish at all.

The groomed areas felt smoother to the touch.

"What is she doing?"

"Are you blind?" Can't you see she's combing her brother's fur?

"Can you even do that?" "Can it be done by licking?"

"Although watching her comb out those floating hairs looks so satisfying, every time it's shedding season, I get hair in my mouth with every lick. It's so annoying."

Now, they seemed somewhat eager to try it themselves. But who would groom them?

A stranger was out of the question; Dad?

That would definitely result in a beating, with them thinking he had lost his mind.

Mom? In some families, mothers were even tougher than fathers and couldn't stand them, especially if they were adults; the parents were always contemplating kicking them out to live on their own.

Siblings? No, they didn't want their siblings so close, let alone engaging in such intimate contact; they would end up fighting.

The only option seemed to be partners being able to groom each other like this.
