Chapter 29 - Is This My Brother's Home?

"Ding dong ding dong..."

Several messages came through, all from the steward of my uncle's house.

Steward: Young Master, Miss enjoys eating buns, steamed dumplings, and various types of seafood.

Steward: You must prepare breakfast for her; our Miss has been pitiful. She never had a good meal when she was with that woman before; she always ate the government's poverty relief nutrition supplements.

Steward: Miss appears to be malnourished; you can tell by her pale face. She is still growing and must not skip breakfast.

Steward: Oh, and remember to prepare milk for Miss...

Steward: Please take care of Miss, Young Master. If you're busy, you can let me go pick her up. 😊

Ruan Qingran said, "..."

How come he never knew that the steward of his uncle's house talks so much?

Ruan Qingran: I am a doctor, I know.

Steward: Oh, Young Master, please don't find me troublesome. You must understand this old man's worries; after all, Miss is not at the Marshal's residence.

The last sentence is the key, isn't it? This is a complaint that he took the little one away.

Heh...

Ruan Qingran sneered and temporarily blocked the steward's messages.

When Ruan Shu woke up in a daze, she suddenly realized that the environment was not right, and then she fully woke up.

She anxiously wanted to find her father, calling out softly a few times, and her little eyes immediately turned slightly red.

"Dad, brother..."

Just as her teardrops were about to fall, Ruan Qingran walked in.

Upon seeing the familiar person, she threw herself at him in distress.

Ruan Qingran lifted her up and patted her back.

"Why are you crying again?"

Ruan Shu tightly held onto his neck, her voice soft and full of grievances.

"I thought I had another nightmare."

Just like before, she had nightmares in which she was all alone, without anyone.

Glistening teardrops adorned her curled eyelashes, giving her a pitiful look.

Ruan Qingran pinched her tender, peach-like face.

"Why do you always have nightmares at such a young age?"

Ruan Shu rubbed his hand, like a little cat. "Shu Shu is scared."

"Are you hungry?"

His slender fingers pressed against her soft, small belly.

Ruan Qingran quietly held her. "Are you hungry?"

She answered in a very soft voice, her attention successfully diverted. She wasn't as scared anymore; she was just holding onto her brother tightly.

Ruan Qingran carried her downstairs. The little girl opened her eyes wide, her clear gaze full of curiosity.

This wasn't her father's house; it was a completely unfamiliar place.

"Is this my brother's home?"

With a mix of nervousness and curiosity about the unfamiliar territory, she asked softly.

"Yes, you can come over here to play anytime in the future."

The little girl smiled, her eyes forming gentle curves. "Okay."

For breakfast, Ruan Qingran followed the steward's advice. Although he was skilled at cooking, he didn't know how to make buns.

He ordered seafood takeout, which included small dumplings.

He made the porridge himself, as well as some other pastries.

Fresh milk was delivered because there was none at home.

Sitting obediently next to her brother, Ruan Shu's gaze was already fixed on the fragrant food.

"Thank you, brother." "Brother is amazing."

"Eat."

Ruan Shu picked up a fragrant, chubby little bun and took a bite, puffing up her cheeks.

Ruan Qingran, who was eating calmly, glanced over and then looked at her face.

Why was it so round?

She hadn't even swallowed what was in her mouth when she took another bite, puffing up the other side of her cheek.

She ate seriously and obediently, not making a sound.

But she was enjoying the food so much that her round eyes curved into a beautiful crescent moon, making her look extremely happy.

It was very eye-catching.

Ruan Qingran couldn't help but look over.

After finishing one small bun, she picked up a spoon and started eating the translucent little dumplings.

The dumplings were small, filled with juicy and delicious meat, and had a chewy texture.

Ruan Shu ate one dumpling after another; she ate five of them!

Although she still wanted to eat more, there were many other things she hadn't tried yet, and she couldn't eat anything else after finishing the dumplings.

As Ruan Shu hesitated while looking at the remaining dumplings in the bowl, a familiar hand reached over and took the bowl.

"If you want to eat something else, go ahead."

The young man's voice was clear, cold, and patient.

Ruan Shu felt a little embarrassed and gave her brother a soft smile.

After the siblings finished breakfast, Ruan Shu missed her father.

"Will Dad come back today?"

"I don't know," Ruan Qingran replied.

Ruan Shu looked at him eagerly. "Brother, can Shu Shu make a small request?"

Ruan Qingran got up to clean the table, his cold eyes scanning the room.

"Go ahead."

Ruan Shu also held the empty bowl and plate, following him with her short legs, like a little tail.

Her little tail was especially cute.

"Can you lend me a terminal, brother?" I want to send another message to Dad.

She sounded pitiful, like a little puppy begging for food.

"Okay."

Ruan Qingran took the plates from her, washed his hands, and lightly tapped her forehead with his fingers.

"If you want to borrow it, just say so." You don't have to be so careful.

Ruan Shu smiled, her eyes curved sweetly and charmingly, melting hearts.

He held her in his arms, opened the personal terminal, and accessed the contact page with her uncle.

"Use it, do you need communication?"

Ruan Shu shook her head. "Just want to send a message to Dad." If he's busy, communication will disturb him.

She was so well-behaved.

Ruan Qingran sighed inwardly; his little cousin was always considerate of others, completely lacking the usual childishness. But it was precisely because of this that she was especially endearing.

Ruan Shu started to send a message to her father, feeling nervous and excited.

Of course, it was a voice message because she didn't even know the interstellar language yet.

"Good morning, Dad." It's Shu Shu. I stayed at my brother's house last night, and this morning I had seafood buns and small dumplings. Dad, make sure to eat well and don't get too busy. Lastly, I want to say, "I miss you, Dad."

After sending the voice message, she anxiously waited for a while.

"Uncle is busy, so he won't reply quickly."

Ruan Shu drooped her head slightly.

"I have to go to work."

As Ruan Qingran's voice fell, he couldn't help but notice that the child's bright eyes dimmed slightly.

He smiled faintly while running his fingers through her soft hair.

"Do you want to see where my brother works?"

Ruan Shu blinked. Wasn't he going to take her back?
