Chapter 21 - 21 Transcendence

When he opened his eyes, Roy found Yumemi Okazaki crouching over him, staring fixedly.

Sensing Roy's awakening, Yumemi Okazaki spoke with a serious expression, "You're awake? The surgery was successful, you're already a fine young lady."

"...Are you even capable of joking?"

"How dull. Can't you give a more special reaction?"

"What reaction do you need? A scream followed by groping myself?"

"If you did that, it would at least be amusing. By the way, once you can intricately control your body, changing genders should be a breeze, right? Remember to show me when that happens."

"I'm not going to do something so boring."

The two chatted idly. Roy dealt with Yumemi Okazaki's growing loquaciousness due to boredom while also feeling the changes in his body at the moment.

"Anyway, let's test it out first."

Roy found the idea feasible.

So the two headed to the spacious area located underground in the residential area.

The scientists and inventors of this world are all moles, fond of digging underground. Yumemi Okazaki, following suit, built this underground basement for experimental and testing purposes.

It's quite large.

Twenty meters high, with an area equivalent to four soccer fields.

"You shouldn't use your own supernatural abilities. Let's see how your physical condition is." Yumemi Okazaki said, as several Gatling guns were aimed at Roy.

"Hey, are you trying to kill me?"

"You can dodge or deflect them, just try to face them." Disregarding Roy's protest, Yumemi Okazaki activated the storm of steel.

Roy had no choice but to deal with it.

The Gatling guns Yumemi Okazaki used should have been made by herself, all of them being vehicle-grade heavy Gatling guns. The barrels spun and emitted blue flames, capable of firing 6,000 rounds in a minute, with bullets spiraling and reaching supersonic speeds.

They've probably been enhanced with Dark Matter, such outrageous performance can be sustained without melting the barrels even with continuous firing.

"However, I can see clearly now."

Roy's current nerve reaction speed and information processing speed are beyond comprehension.

In his eyes, the bullets might not have traveled a single centimeter in 10 seconds.

It's almost like activating zero time.

"This is Accelerated Calculation, right?"

Time is a subjective sensation people have regarding the movement and changes of things.

Since the speed in this universe is not uniform, time varies in different spacetimes. Near massive celestial bodies like black holes, you might feel like only a day has passed, while the Earth has undergone significant changes.

Time can be considered objective because motion is absolute.

Interfering with the movement of the entire universe and interfering with the resulting chain reactions caused by interfering with the movement of the entire universe to control time in the universe is a quite insane and unimaginable practice.

Of course, there are other ways to control time. The aforementioned method is just the crudest, most extravagant, and stupidest form of time manipulation.

"Each person's perception of time is different. When information processing speed, thinking speed, calculation speed, and nerve reaction speed are several times or dozens of times faster, the world you see is also slower."

Accelerated thinking and divided thinking.

These are techniques learned during the research and development of the Gene Lock.

Previously, biological computers were only used to assist brain functions. Now, after the modifications, they can directly work with brain tissue.

"When technology advances in the future, and we can unfold Dark Matter inside cells for circuit etching, would my body then be composed of over 60 trillion supercomputers?"

It's too curious, unimaginable.

Facing the metal storm moving as slow as a snail, Roy effortlessly dodged it.

But now he's testing, so he bravely faced it, weaving through the bullets. After evading a round of gunfire, Roy then deactivated the accelerated thinking.

"How was that?"

"Impressive." Yumemi Okazaki gave a thumbs-up. "Not only did you evade the continuous rapid fire from six heavy Gatling guns for a minute, but you could also calculate the acceleration and rotation speed of the bullets, allowing you to easily deflect them with the strength of an ordinary person."

"You seem to know a lot about it."

"We have dynamic capture cameras. Even though they've been slowed down by hundreds of times, your movements are still exceptionally agile." Yumemi Okazaki gestured toward Roy with a tablet.

"Shall we continue?"

"Yes."

Next up was the testing of physical abilities.

This project involved quite a lot.

First, static observation, which included various physical examinations. Then came dynamic observation, directly showcasing physical abilities.

Although the underground space was designed simply, it was quite robust. Roy didn't use any special abilities, but his pure physicality still caused uncontrollable destruction as he ran through the city at high speed.

Ceilings, floors, walls.

Everywhere was riddled with cracks.

Yumemi Okazaki didn't mind Roy's destruction. This underground room, made of memory alloy, would automatically repair damage. Even if it reached metal fatigue after repair, sprinkling some Dark Matter would revive it.

The main culprit of the destruction was the humanoid mobile ore vein that produced Dark Matter, so there was no need to worry.

"Hmm..." Yumemi Okazaki looked at the test records. "You're completely beyond human now. It's more appropriate to call you a Transcendent, an Evolver, or perhaps a next-generation primate."

After achieving complete control over the body, many unimaginable feats could be accomplished.

Similar to Enkidu's shapeshifting ability.

Overall branches are fixed, allowing one to allocate values to speed, strength, or endurance according to their needs. In short, one can specialize in any ability according to their needs.

"This approach is the utilization of bodily resources beyond limits, and it can even use the resources of life-sustaining systems. Without powerful self-regeneration and durability, doing this would only lead to a dead end."

"After the fusion of cells with Dark Matter, possessing omnipotence similar to stem cells, and with cellular Dark Matter acting as a kind of computer to store and transmit information, even if damaged, recovery is achievable." Roy explained. "Moreover, from an atomic structure perspective, the body's strength and resilience far exceed that of an ordinary person, so there's no harm in doing this."

Human potential is limitless, but the human body still has limits.

To break through these limits, one needs a structure that is both stable and unstable. After obtaining the Gene Lock, Roy's body possesses this characteristic.

"The structure of self-modification is quite successful. How about it? Have we achieved the goal?"

"There's still a bit to go." Roy replied. "The ultimate goal of the Gene Lock is to achieve controlled self-selected evolution. Right now, we've only achieved control and adjustment of the body... let's roughly divide the current results into three stages for regulation."

"Oh? Do you really need to go through all this trouble?"

"I have my own ideas." Roy answered. "After all, since the overall evolution is only done by me, and considering that I don't want to stray too far from human society, I need to maintain some of the original abilities. That way, mutual understanding can be maintained, right?"

"Suit yourself. As long as your actions don't lead to the rejection of the results. Hmm, Gene Lock... Is that why it's called a lock? " Yumemi Okazaki mused. "By the way, didn't you add Dark Matter into your cells to form a new cellular structure? When observing your cells under a microscope, I didn't notice any difference from normal animal cells."

"You must have been looking at my dormant cells. I've encoded the structure simulated by Dark Matter in the cells... in other words, the Gene Lock system... into the genes. Before considering it as a Gene Lock, the cells are in a dormant state."

"I see... Your ability is quite convenient." Yumemi Okazaki remarked. "So, does that mean your physique is heritable now? I'm starting to get interested. After inheriting your physique, your descendants would inherently possess this ability. Who knows how it might manifest in even more unimaginable ways."

Yumemi Okazaki looked at Roy and suggested mischievously, "Want to have a child with me?"
