Chapter 11 - 11 Sister and Brother

"Huh... is there anything else to say?"

"Nothing to say? Nothing to say to your sister?!" Fubuki grabbed Roy, "Are you tired of your sister? Did you leave home because of this?"

What nonsense is this person talking about?

'But, the resistance isn't as strong as before, and we naturally got closer.'

This is probably part of the process of warming up.

Although Roy initially felt some resistance, at least after spending a little while together, that resistance quietly disappeared without a trace.

Letting out a slight sigh, Roy gently tapped Fubuki's head with his hand and said, "Alright, stop it. If you still want to talk to me, then sit properly."

"Oh."

Fubuki agreed and complied.

As Roy sat back in his chair, toying with his water glass, he also prepared his words, "First, tell me, why did you do this?"

"Well, Roy, you used to bury yourself in books, paying little attention to what was going on around you." After automatically completing her imagined conversation, Fubuki continued, "Actually, I've always wanted to be number one. Whether it's intelligence, physical strength, shrewdness, or superpowers, I should be the one standing at the pinnacle, if it weren't for that person... Tatsumaki, our sister."

Roy's expression became somewhat strange.

Fubuki opened up, unaware of Roy's oddity. She continued, "So, I wanted to maintain my position as the number one in B-class, which was the first number one I earned through my own efforts. I wanted to stay in this position and hoped to lead all heroes below B-class, in order to counteract our sister who always acts alone..."

"Wait a moment." Roy interrupted Fubuki's continued speech, then said helplessly, "Isn't this fundamentally wrong from the beginning? Where did you get this idea from?"

"Isn't it?" Fubuki retorted.

"Besides appearance and physique... if that's the case, then there's no need for you to just stick to being number one in B-class, why not directly become number one in A-class?"

"That's impossible. If it were around A-class number five, it might be achievable, but going up another level is difficult." Fubuki replied, "A-class number four, Bushidrill, A-class number three, Okamaitachi, A-class number two, Iaian, they are all disciples of S-class hero Atomic Samurai, and the reason they couldn't become S-class heroes is because there's a man above them... A-class number one, Sweet Mask."

"Doesn't that prove you haven't reached your limit yet?"

"I'm talking about within the scope of humanity, there are many monsters in the world that surpass common sense, basically all S-class heroes are like that, and Sweet Mask is no exception." Saying this, Fubuki also cautioned Roy, "Roy, don't compete with monsters like that, okay!"

Why is she turning the tables and lecturing him?

"Alright, I have a general idea now." Roy nodded, "In conclusion, Fubuki, if your goal is to surpass Tatsumaki, then I advise you to give up the Blizzard Group because it's meaningless."

"Meaningless..."

Fubuki felt somewhat uncomfortable in her heart, her efforts and hopes were being bluntly denied.

But she couldn't get angry.

Because the person in front of her is her most intimate, beloved, and favorite brother, she couldn't get angry at him.

"Fubuki, have you been deceiving yourself all this time?"

Fubuki bit her lip, not answering.

"To be honest, if it's just making friends or helping those below your level, I have no objections. However, if you think gathering a group weaker than you will make you stronger, this naive idea should be discarded sooner rather than later. It's impossible to become strong this way, it's not a matter of arithmetic, 1+1 will always equal 2."

There was no sarcasm or condescension in Roy's tone.

Roy's tone was very plain, as if stating an unembellished fact.

"You also saw it today, once encountering stronger monsters than you, the entire Blizzard Group may be wiped out. In that situation, no one in the Blizzard Group can help you or even save you, so fundamentally, the Blizzard Group is meaningless to you."

"But, but I worked hard to build up this position-"

"Even so, something meaningless will always be meaningless, it's better to do something valuable unconsciously than to work hard for something meaningless that won't be recognized by others." Roy said, "People who want to achieve something, people who want to survive... everyone is trying, and if you want your efforts to be recognized by others, then you have to strive for something valuable!"

"T-then, do you think I should disband the Blizzard Group?" Fubuki lowered her head.

"I don't know."

"You don't know?"

Roy once again diverged from Fubuki's thoughts.

To be fair, his disguise had been torn apart by Roy. If Roy asked her to disband the Blizzard Group, there was a good chance she would do it.

But Roy didn't say that, not even as a suggestion.

"Ah, as I said, if the Blizzard Group was established for reasons other than your current intentions, I wouldn't say anything. Because the fundamental issue isn't the Blizzard Group, it's you."

"Me...?"

"It's a matter of self-awareness... simply put, it's meaningless to delude yourself and hold onto the top spot in B-class. Either don't aim to surpass Tatsumaki and take it easy, or..." Roy lifted his head, looking at Fubuki, "Aim to surpass Tatsumaki, continuously improve, and continuously train yourself."

Aiming for something isn't wrong at all.

Rather, people must have goals, so they have direction and motivation to move forward.

"That's easier said than done..."

"Hah..." Roy let out a breath, his tone becoming lighter, "Actually, I'm just talking without considering your feelings. People always struggle to understand each other, so in reality, I also can't understand your pain and difficulties, sorry."

He chuckled, though not overtly, it was indeed a more relaxed expression, leaving Fubuki somewhat dumbfounded.

"Anyway, it's up to you how to proceed. Although we have a relatively close relationship, I don't think I have the right to decide for others... even if it's not a hopeless choice."

This time, Roy really intended to leave. Fubuki seemed pensive but didn't stop him.

"Alright, it's time, I should go back."

"Wait, Roy, aren't you going home with me?"

"Let me be independent for once, can't always be by your side, right? We've already grown up."

"I don't think Tatsumaki cares about that."

"Regarding Tatsumaki, let's try to avoid talking about her as much as possible, it's troublesome." Roy didn't know how to deal with his tsundere and overprotective older sister.

"That's our little secret then." For some reason, Fubuki's mood lifted, "Can I also come to where you're staying now? Remember to save me a room, I might stay overnight occasionally."

"Give me a break."

"One last thing." Fubuki said earnestly, "Roy, if I still want to keep the Blizzard Group, and you register as a hero, will you join?"

Roy, standing at the door, paused for a moment, then said, "If it shows me some value."

"I will... definitely."

"Then I'll be looking forward to it."
