Chapter 3 - The Dark Smoke

Tatsumi and Ankoku walked through the gate to their home and Roka came out sprinting at them exclaiming

"DADDY! DADDY! BUBBA! Welcome home!"

Suzumi standing in the door smiled while Saki was smiling behind her mother. They all went inside and had supper, a juicy lamb, mashed potatoes with some green beans. The family all were smiling widely, laughing and eating. Then after supper the kids played knights and monsters while there was some sunlight left with their neighbor and friend Licht, a scrawny blonde boy, darker in skin tone with brown eyes, around 4'9 in height. Saki and Ankoku were the monsters this time and Licht and Kirin, a black haired girl, eleven years old, 5'1 in height and is an extremely bratty girl with a sly smirk.

"Look the monsters are on their defensive attack"

said Kirin and stormed towards them and starts hitting them with a stick over and over again leaving bruises on them *swoosh bam bam slish* The sun started to go down and they started going home. The kids come in and get healed up from their playing and go to the bath and go to sleep. Tatsumi and Suzumi are on the hill that overlooks their house smiling and holding each other. "We have such a beautiful family I couldn't ever ask for more from anything or anyone.."

says Tatsumi as he plants a kiss on her neck. Suzumi smiles widely and responds sincerely

"You and my family are the greatest blessings a poor girl like me could ever wish for my love."

They look up at the beautiful night sky and the full moon as they hold each other tightly and lovingly. After a couple months go by the family plans a trip to the lake to relax and have some bonding time. Suzumi and Tatsumi decided to leave Ankoku in charge while they left for a hike, the kids began to splash around and play in the lake laughing and giggling. While on the hike Tatsumi finds some beautiful white tulips in a field and runs towards the trail he left Suzumi on and came up behind her and covered her eyes and said

"Hey honey. I got a surprise for you!"

Suzumi shocked at the sudden darkness but reassured by her husbands voice agreed and smiled as she was lead toward the field and when he uncovered her eyes a strong gust of wind came in and moved her hair and dress in the wind while her eyes lit up staring at the beautiful field of flowers, sunflowers, roses, and tulips. She teared up a bit and jumped into Tatsumi's arms as she said

"Thank you so much"

they held each other there for a long time smiling at each other and began dancing in the field. The kids see their parents returning from the trail and excitedly rush towards them Roka still insanely wet jumps onto his dad getting him wet and says

"HI DADDY"

The family enjoyed the day at the lake and when it became night they lit the fire using sticks and magic. Suzumi raised her hand and a circle gleaming bright red with inscriptions around it with a cross in the middle and said "Ignite" the fire roared up and they began cooking supper. The family ate supper and all laid down around the fire and began to fall asleep one by one smiling but also feeling exhausted from all the fun they had at the lake. -----Four Years Later—

Ankoku woke up in the morning happy and refreshed and ready for the next day. He now goes to work at Itadoris farm, Itadori is a kind old man that never ceases to help those in need. He is quite tall with silver hair and hands rough from the hard work of his farm, with a rough looking exterior he is still insanely kind with the most heartwarming smile anyone can ever lay eyes upon. The farm is a couple miles up the mountain on a flat piece of land sticking out from the side of the mountain. Ankoku works at the farm until late and returns home to his dads and moms loving smile and embrace, they then sit around the table and prepare for supper. This daily routine happened for a couple of months consisting of morning sword training, greeting everyone in town, and then running to work. It was then that Ankoku saw something he's never seen before off in the distance; it looked to be a decent sized squadron of knights consisting of maybe 30-40 soldiers. He thought nothing of it and returned to work and after five hours as the sun began to set there was a huge explosion in the middle of town. Ankokus' face is filled with shock and fear. He was extremely alarmed as he watched smoke rise up into the blush red sky filling it full of black smoke. As he stood there staring at the fire, one single thought came rushing into his mind at the time, his family was home alone on the hill there house resides. That is why he didn't feel himself rushing down the mountain towards the town as the old man and his sons scream for him not to go there and stay where it is safe, but he could not hear them as his mind is completely blank and is just sprinting down taking every shortcut he can imagine. The town is engulfed in flames as he rushes through the shrubs and trees he trips and rolls down the rocky hillside. He falls off the path and flies through the air hitting a tree limb breaking his fall but also breaks his left arm and sprains his leg when he falls the rest of the way to the ground. Even while hurt he rushes to the outskirts of the walled town where he sees the guard he speaks to every day, missing his right arm and has a sword wound across his chest laying in a pool of his own blood. In the distance he can hear screams and pleads but the main thing rushing through his mind while the walls and huts burn around him is his family. He runs through the flaming town as he limps and grunts in pain, his eyes straining from the pain. As he runs as fast as possible he sees to his right that many villagers are laying on the ground dead, he thinks to himself

"this has to be a monster attack there's no other reasoning for this to be happening..right..please let my family be alright"

he says worriedly and stressed almost hyperventilating as he stares blankly while running as fast as his weakened body can go. Ankoku sees smoke rising up from the hill his home was from.
