The boss fight is going well and there doesn't seem to be any problem. Everyone thinks they will kill the boss soon, thanks to their good cooperation and great strategy.
However, their confidence is shattered very quickly when the boss suddenly roars very loudly. The very loud roar echoes in the cave, making it even more ear-deafening.
It also contains powerful magic power that makes everyone take some steps back while covering their ears.
Then everyone can sense the boss's power is spiking up. It was already very powerful and now it has become even more powerful.
The boss is entering its berserk phase which is quite common among boss monsters. But this one is much more powerful than any monster they've faced so far even before going berserk.
Now that it has become berserk, the Giant Boss's power has doubled. The debuffs that Indra cast on it disappear when it becomes berserk. Even the wounds caused by the Hunters are healed.
"Oi, oi, oi! You must be joking! It heals itself."
The boss also breaks free from the black chains that bind it onto the ground. The chains are getting weaker because Indra is affected by the roar that disrupts his magic and mind.
Though even without that, the boss will still be able to break free from the chains in its berserk state because it has become much stronger. This guy is basically the right-hand man of the Giant Monarch, so it's very strong.
"CONCENTRATE! BERSERK STATE WON'T LAST FOREVER, SO KEEP YOUR WITS UNTIL IT'S OVER! WE'LL WIN IF WE CAN HOLD ON UNTIL ITS BERSERK STATE IS OVER. HURRY UP AND RETREAT FOR NOW!"
Indra shouts while creating a barrier dome for the raid team to protect themselves while the boss is in its berserk state. Everyone retreats quickly before the boss moves to attack them.
To make sure all of them can retreat safely, Indra binds the boss's feet with his Binding Chains again. But now he can feel the boss is pulling the chains with a much stronger power than before.
It doesn't take long for the boss to uproot the black magic chains from the ground with its feet. But that short time is enough for the raid team to enter Indra's barrier.
The boss attacks the barrier with fast and strong swings of its gigantic wooden club. Its attacks shake the whole barrier. No, it even shakes the whole dungeon.
Even the people outside the Gate can hear the loud impacts caused by its attacks. It's such a terrifying sound that makes them glad they don't need to fight the monsters.
The raid team is very tense now because they are worried Indra's barrier won't hold against this barrage of powerful attacks.
Fortunately for them, his barrier is sturdy enough to defend the attacks. But the boss is really strong. Even Indra needs to fully concentrate on maintaining his barrier now.
"I will hold it. You guys just focus on recovering your energy and get ready to attack it anytime. I need to keep my focus on the barrier, so I don't think I can buff you later because it might take all of my mana to maintain this barrier."
"No problem. It will be fine as long as your barrier doesn't break until it stops attacking."
Indra is telling the truth now. He is worried the boss will stay in its berserk state until he runs out of mana because now he needs to use his barrier magic at its full power.
It makes him worry now. After all, he has become much more powerful and he is confident he can fight even the strongest monster in the Monarchs' armies. Yet this boss is forcing him to go all out on defense.
Furthermore, he doesn't remember this monster to have a berserk state in the story. Though he also can't rely on the information he has from the story because a lot of things have been changed from the original timeline.
This will just mean he is still not strong enough and needs to keep getting stronger. His goal is eventually to be powerful enough to fight the Monarchs so he can assist Jin Woo when fighting them.
It takes more than half an hour until the boss's berserk state stops. This boss really has a lot of energy for it to last that long in its berserk state.
What's more, it doesn't get much weaker after getting out of its berserk state. Usually, monsters will be much weaker than their normal selves after their berserk states because they use too much energy to go berserk.
Yet this guy only gets weakened by around a quarter of its normal self. So it's just like when Indra gave it some debuffs before, which obviously is not a good thing.
"DON'T FALTER! THERE MUST BE CONSEQUENCES OF GOING BERSERK AND USED THAT MUCH ENERGY. EVEN IF ITS WOUNDS HAVE BEEN HEALED, IT MUST'VE STILL TAKEN DAMAGE."
Dewi shouts before she charges toward the boss. The ones who seem worried quickly come to their senses and move to attack the boss as they agree with Dewi in their hearts.
Shiddarth quickly taunts the boss and activates his Magic Shield. Thomas helps him hold the Magic Shield as the boss starts attacking him. With Thomas's assistance, they can stop the boss without being pushed back.
The Mages are shooting their powerful spells to the boss's upper body while the melee hunters are attacking its ankles to make it fall again.
When their attacks land on the boss, they finally find an effect of the berserk state. The boss's defense is getting much weaker. Its hard and tough skin is now getting softer, so it becomes easier for them to break through it.
They manage to cut the boss's achilles tendons in a much shorter time than before even though they don't receive Indra's buffs.
The boss falls on its back again, just like before, and they start attacking it mercilessly. It's their best chance to kill the boss now.
The melee Hunters are moving to attack the boss's throat because it's the easiest vital point to reach and break considering the boss's size.
Meanwhile, the Mages are attacking its crotch because it's the easiest to aim from their position as the boss is lying on its back and they are facing its feet that are wide open.
Shiddarth and Thomas are attacking the boss's hands to prevent it from attacking the damage dealers. Indra uses his remaining mana to create the black magic chains to hold the boss's hands too.
But he doesn't have enough mana to hold its legs, so it moves its legs around, trying to attack them with its legs.
It still can move its legs because they only cut its achilles tendons, not its whole legs. However, it can't reach the Hunters who are on its throat with its fat inflexible legs.
So it can only flail its legs around and create tremors by hitting the ground with its legs. The only thing that happens because of that is the Mages' spells get blocked by its flailing legs.
But that also makes its legs get injured even more because of the powerful spells.
The Hunters don't care about the Giant Boss's suffering and keep attacking it with all they have. They were in a very bad situation just now, so they know they can't let the boss recover anymore because then it will be hard defending themselves with Indra almost running out of mana.
With almost all the melee damage dealers attacking, the boss's throat finally gets cut in a short time.
But as expected of a very tenacious monster, it doesn't die immediately even after its throat is cut. It's still retaliating while blood gushes out of its wound, although it can't really do anything at its current state now.
The Hunters know the boss will die from blood loss soon, so they aren't worried. Dewi even tells Jin Woo to collect the boss's blood because it is a very valuable material.
They try to hold the boss by pulling Indra's black magic chains. A monster's last struggle is usually very dangerous, so they need to make it stay still until it really dies.
After waiting for a while, the Giant Boss finally dies. Indra confirms it after receiving notifications from the system that he has received some XP and even levels up a few times.
Everyone finally slumps down as they can finally breathe in relief. "It's finally over."
