Chapter 122 - She didn't come today, did she?

Mr. Jonas's plan appears exceedingly impeccable, yet the practical execution thereof proves to be rather intricate. Indeed, when it comes to schemes concerning employee allegiance, Mr. Jonas has never faltered. The position occupied by Miss Yudora Ray lies at a considerable distance from the heart of the Alt district, encompassing four secondary sectors and one primary sector, situated within the borders of District Twenty-Five's Fydel district. In simpler terms, this location lies beyond the sphere of influence of the Wethington Consortium, necessitating Mr. Jonas's strategies to be executed with even greater circumspection than before. Through Miss Eiffel's investigation, it has been ascertained that Miss Yudora Ray's clandestine clinic is nestled within the Aphrodite district of Fydel — commonly known as the Red Light District. Aphrodite, the deity of love in Greek mythology, often symbolizes matters of sensuality. The rationale behind Miss Yudora Ray's decision to establish her clinic in the Red Light District remains elusive to Mr. Jonas, yet it undeniably facilitates the execution of his plans. The Red Light District is a melting pot of diverse individuals, where various identities frequently converge. Naturally, the establishment of a clandestine clinic in such a locale is not without its tribulations. However, this shall significantly diminish the likelihood of arousing suspicion in Miss Yudora Ray. Nonetheless, prior to this, it is imperative for him to extend his regards to the influential powers that hold sway in the Fydel district.

As for the later scenario... who can predict with certainty? Capital is inherently selfish; everyone seeks to monopolize gains. However, it is evident that Mr. Jonas's approach is more decisive and ruthless. By the time Mr. Mist realizes that his protracted scheming has come to naught, Mr. Jonas may have evolved into a force beyond his reckoning. The iris recognition system scans, and the door to the ward opens slowly.

Miss Selene is currently in the midst of slumber. Unlike her usual demure or mischievous demeanor, Miss Selene's countenance in repose is both winsome and adorable. Witnessing this scene, Mr. Jonas couldn't help but smile wryly.

"Not... not now, sister is still nearby..."

It is at this moment that the young girl furrows her brows suddenly, restlessly rubbing her thighs, as if dreaming of something. Incoherent murmurs escape her lips:

"Uh, at least wait... until they leave..."

Mr. Jonas's smile freezes involuntarily, and his gaze towards the young girl carries a hint of speechlessness. In a certain sense, his previous assessment was not entirely wrong — the young girl's mind seems filled solely with lascivious thoughts, devoid of any other content.

As if sensing something, Miss Selene's eyelashes tremble slightly. Stretching lazily like a cat, she rubs her sleepy eyes, then gradually opens them. Upon seeing Jonas sitting by the bedside, she shows no surprise.

"Hehe, it's just like the real thing," the girl says, then pounces on Jonas, vigorously sniffing his scent and mumbling incoherently:

— Evidently, the girl perceives the present moment as a dream.

Mr. Jonas impatiently flicks the girl's forehead, causing Selene to release her grip, staring at Jonas with a bewildered expression. Subsequently, the girl's gaze gradually clears, seemingly realizing that this is not a dream. With a tone of uncertainty, she speaks:

"Mr... Mr. Jonas?"

Saying so, she reaches out to pinch his cheek. Upon feeling the real touch, she confirms her thoughts.

"Is it really you?"

Jonas brushes off the girl's mischievous hand, somewhat resignedly saying:

"If it's not me, then who else could it be?"

"It's been almost half a month, and my brother-in-law just remembered to come and see me."

Selene's tone carries a hint of resentment as she turns her head, speaking somewhat petulantly:

"I'm upset."

More accurately, it's more like she's throwing a tantrum.

Jonas shakes his head helplessly, then retrieves a disc from behind him:

"A gift for you."

Glancing at the name on the disc, "I Serve with My Sister," Selene hesitates for a moment, but ultimately overcomes her reluctance:

"No, I won't accept it."

"Fine, suit yourself." Jonas puts away the disc, somewhat displeased.

It is at this moment that Selene loops her arms around Jonas's neck, looks up at him, and says:

"I want this as a gift."

"It's still morning."

"I don't care, I've endured for so many days."

......................

About two hours later.

Miss Selene pokes her head out from under the covers, looking at Jonas, and asks:

"When will Mr. Jonas come next?"

"I'm not sure."

Jonas shakes his head, then looks at Selene with a smile, saying:

"The next time I come, Miss Selene will probably be discharged from the hospital."

Hearing this, Selene hesitates for a moment, but ultimately speaks with determination:

"Speaking of which, there's something I need to tell Mr. Jonas."

Jonas is somewhat puzzled, but then sees the girl wave her hand, and the nearby water glass seems to be drawn by some force, flying directly into her hand.

"?"

A question mark appears over Jonas's head.
