Chapter 45 - Who did I offend

Calis Bar, one of the rare private bars in the upper district, exudes an aura of exclusivity.

It has long been rumored to be under the domain of the Bond Consortium, hence few factions dare to cause trouble here.

Beneath the dim lights, Selka Bond holds his glass aloft, aiming it at the chandelier on the ceiling, the glass refracting iridescent hues.

—Exquisite.

Selka gazes at the liquid in the glass, feeling thoroughly content.

The thought of partnering with the Veiteng Consortium soon, while his siblings laboriously develop their own ventures, fills him with satisfaction.

After relishing this inner satisfaction, he empties the contents of the glass in one gulp and casually places it on the table.

Selka addresses the guard responsible for security at the entrance:

"Morika, arrange a car for me, I'm heading to the Altair District."

Everything is prepared; now it's just a matter of signing the contract.

However, as his words fall, there is no response.

Furrowing his brow, Selka repeats his call:

"Morika, where are you?"

Still, there is no reply.

A sense of unease creeps into Selka's heart; he rises from his seat and strides towards the door.

As he pushes it open, a pair of clear, light green eyes meet his.

Startled, Selka instinctively steps back, only to have his knee kicked out by the woman in front of him, causing him to kneel on the ground.

Moments later, a sharp pain pierces his neck as a syringe injects its contents, sending a chill through the area where the needle penetrates.

His consciousness begins to rapidly fade, and everything around him blurs.

In the final moments before losing consciousness, all he hears is the content reported by the black-green highlighted girl in communication.

"Miss Chelsea, the target has been apprehended."

......

In the enclosed room, the sound of dripping echoes from the corner.

Selka's consciousness gradually awakens; he shakes his still groggy head, attempting to clear his mind.

However, this action does little to alleviate his discomfort.

The next moment, a basin of icy water is poured directly over his head.

The piercing cold instantly clears his consciousness; under this intense stimulus, he distinctly feels his heart skip a beat, as if he might suddenly die the next moment, gasping for air.

Thanks to this intense stimulus, Selka shakes off his previous drowsiness.

After calming himself, he raises his head, surveying the unfamiliar surroundings.

Soon after, his abdomen is fiercely struck, the impact causing him to involuntarily retch and cough several times before recovering.

"Miss Chelsea, is it sufficient?"

The girl's voice comes from the side; Tokiwa Suzushiro retrieves her fist, looking at the white-haired girl beside her.

—Chelsea?

Suppressing his discomfort, Selka lifts his head, looking at the woman in front of him; the next moment, his pupils contract.

At first glance, he recognizes the identity of the woman before him: Chelsea Claudie, chairwoman of the Nathan Consortium.

But why? I haven't offended her in any way.

Selka's mind is somewhat confused.

The next moment, he hears her speak:

"Mr. Selka, if you don't mind, could you tell me where you hid the chip?"

Chelsea's voice rings out, devoid of any emotion.

—Chip, what chip?

Selka is somewhat bewildered, but before he can speak, he sees the woman in front of him furrow her brow.

Moments later, another strong impact comes from his abdomen.

As if his internal organs were being overturned, Selka continues to retch.

"Mr. Selka, if you're not willing to speak, don't blame me for using some special methods."

Chelsea Claudie's words send shivers down Selka's spine, who hasn't yet figured out what's going on.

Driven by fear, he suppresses his discomfort and hurriedly speaks:

"C-Chelsea, I'll talk, I'll talk!"

Hearing this, Tokiwa Suzushiro stops her actions.

Soon after, Selka speaks again:

"What you want, I will tell you everything, but please tell me what the situation is now, can you?"

Hearing this, Tokiwa Suzushiro thought the other party was being tough, frowned, and was about to continue, but was stopped by Chelsea Claudie next to her.

Looking at the man in front of her, Chelsea calmly narrates:

"At nine o'clock last night, the Nathan Consortium's shipment was hijacked, and none of the employees transporting the goods survived."

Selka's heart sinks upon hearing this, and then he hears her continue:

"And according to the information transmitted from the scene, the people who attacked us were equipped with the Bond Consortium's new generation tactical suits..."

Upon hearing this, Selka hurriedly speaks out:

"No, this isn't my doing, the Bond Consortium..."

—Bang

Another punch lands on Selka's abdomen; Tokiwa Suzushiro opens her mouth sternly:

"Quiet!"

After taking a punch, Selka dares not shout again; he suppresses the feeling of his stomach churning, listening to Chelsea, the girl named Chelsea, continue:

"First, the first question, why were the people last night equipped with the Bond Consortium's tactical suits?"

Selka, upon hearing this, forces himself to calm down, frantically searching for the answer in his mind; after a moment, his eyes light up, as if he has figured something out, and he speaks:

"Yes, it's Jonas! Jonas Veiteng!"

In Selka's response, he hears an unexpected name; Chelsea furrows her brow and asks:

"Jonas? Why would the Veiteng Consortium have the Bond Consortium's tactical suits?"

Hearing this, Selka also realizes the current situation.

—Damn Jonas, he's up to no good after all.

He thinks with resentment in his heart and speaks:

"That scoundrel took ten sets of tactical suits from me, saying he wanted to study the development ideas of our Bond Consortium's tactical suits."

Tokiwa Suzushiro, upon hearing this, can hardly hold back:

"So you lent it to him?"

Upon hearing this question from the girl who mercilessly beat him, Selka nods reluctantly.

Chelsea remains silent for a while, not speaking, but silently stands up.

All the questions she wanted to ask have been asked; there's no need to stay here any longer.

"After everything is over, I will let you leave, Mr. Selka."

She says this, walking towards the door.

Tokiwa Suzushiro quickly follows suit.

The door slowly closes, leaving only Mr. Selka with a look of despair.

—Who did I offend?
