Imran's pov....
After everyone left the meeting room, I sighed before rubbing my temples, my eyes boring holes into the table as I absentmindedly rubbed my forehead.
I had just finished with the second meeting for the day and I'm already exhausted, probably because of the contracts I've been reviewing.
I sighed before grabbing my documents and heading to my office. A headache was beginning to form at the base of my forehead, yet I still had a lot of paperwork to go through, maybe a cup of coffee would work? Or I could just finish looking through the paperwork and leave before noon. I debated with myself as I pushed open the door, revealing the brightly lit room. The room was finely furnished with there being two arm chairs and a small coffee table that sat in the middle, not too far from the entrance, and a dark brown hardwood table and chair that was placed close to the extreme end of the room.
The room was mostly dark brown and grey with the walls having only a few abstract paintings on them.
I walked inside and slumped on my chair. If not for the fact that Kareem was able to approve the contract, I won't still be at the office.
I sighed before adjusting my position and opened the file...
...
After some time, maybe like an hour and a half, I closed my eyes slightly and rubbed my forehead. Maybe I should have taken that coffee. Pushing those thoughts away, I got up from my seat and closed the file before gathering all the files and putting them in a folder before heading out the office.
My forehead still ached from earlier today as I rubbed it slightly. I made my way outside to the carpark before fishing my keys out from my back pocket and using it to open the door. I threw the file to the passenger's seat and rounded it before opening the door to the driver's seat.
I still have to go to Kareem's house later today to discuss other things related to the contract. Maybe before I do that, I'll head home and take a rest break. I took a seat before taking the folder and looking through the files when I realized I forgot one of them at the office.
Just great!
I heaved a long breath before throwing my head back and running my fingers through my hair. I checked the time on my watch before breathing a long sigh and reluctantly stepping out of the vehicle.
I sluggishly made my way back inside and took slow strides up the stairs.
After barely eating anything for breakfast and now having to sacrifice lunch as well, my energy level was almost out.
I counted my steps as I tried to think of anything that would help reduce my headache when suddenly I felt something push me to the side. I turned around to see a girl falling, her eyes were closed.
Without thinking I grabbed her waist and pulled her close. I watched as her eyelids flew open.
I noticed her big brown eyes and her smooth brown skin. For a moment we just stood there staring at each other, maybe I wasn't the only one who felt this strange feeling . My heart pounding and time taking slow strides, everything felt different for this one moment, but then suddenly, I felt a slight push as she got up and mummerd something I couldn't quite hear and in the blink of an eye she was off rushing down the stairs, gone. That strange feeling of your heart pounding and time moving in slow motion was short lived.
I breathed a long sigh as I awkwardly shifted my gaze from her running figure. And just as I was about to begin my journey up the stairs, I noticed a file on the staircase. I didn't remember bringing any files with me from outside so this probably belonged to someone else.
I picked it up and opened it just to see who it belonged to. A bold 'Layan Saleem ' caught my attention. 'It probably belongs to her'. I thought to myself before calling out her name.
"Layan!" She paused, I froze, waiting for her to do something but she just stood there.
I began making my way towards her and as soon as I reached the stairs she was standing on, I handed the file to her, "you dropped this". I blurted out as she abruptly turned around to see me and I was met with those deep brown eyes of hers.
A small smile began to form on my face as I noticed the girls nervousness. I watched as her shaky hands took ahold on the file, her eyes avoiding mine.
"Thank you". I heard her say before I began my journey up the stairs.
