THE NOVEL IS MIX WITH FICTION AND TRUE LIFE STORY
The inspiration for "Tides and Longing" flowed from the quiet corners of my heart, where memories and emotions collide like waves against the shore. It was born from the ache of unspoken confessions, the bittersweet dance of love lost and found.
Perhaps it was the way the sea whispered secrets to the sand, or the way childhood friendships lingered like salt on sun-kissed skin. I watched as time wove its threads, pulling me away from familiar alleys and laughter-filled afternoons. Yet, the heart, stubborn and hopeful, clung to those moments—the stolen glances, the shared dreams.
When I returned to Seoul, the city held echoes of what once was. Jeong, my childhood friend, had moved to abroad, leaving behind a trail of memories. His absence carved a hollow space within me, yet hope lingered—a fragile seashell, waiting for the tides to bring him back.
And then there was the boy from high school—the one with galaxies in his eyes. His love was a tempest, fierce and consuming. But it shattered, leaving stardust in its wake. The pain etched constellations on my soul, and I wondered if love was meant to be both beautiful and cruel.
Jeong returned, not as the boy who shared my secrets, but as a stranger with memories etched into his eyes. Our encounters were fleeting, like seagulls skimming the water's surface. We stood on different shores—him with a girlfriend, me with a secret crush that bloomed anew.
The moon witnessed our silent conversations—the apologies, the what-ifs. We were strangers with memories, adrift in the same sea. And as I gazed at Jeong, I realized that love, even unrequited, was a lighthouse guiding lost ships. Perhaps our story could find a different ending—one where the waves carried us back to each other.
So, "Tides and Longing" was born—a tale of whispered confessions, salt-kissed kisses, and the ache of love that defied time. In its pages, I sought solace, rewriting destiny with ink and hope. And maybe, just maybe, our seashells would find each other again, washed ashore by forgotten waves. 🌊❤️
My love story in real life may have a sad and tragic ending but I wish to have a happy ending even once in this book🙂. Maybe I was fated to this sad love but my ink will change it to a happy ending even if its not with Jeong 💔. Even if I didn't get his last name, I promise my son will surely get his first name.
TO HIM : if you are reading this book today, every word here was my love letter to you and the unspoken words I can't tell you face by face. Let's meet eachother as two normal people in our next life not as childhood friends that become strangers with memories.😊❤️🩹🥀
