Chereads / Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna / Chapter 11 - Almost caught

Chapter 11 - Almost caught

VALENCIA'S POV

What was I doing here?

Trying to see if this window sill was strong enough? How much height was I really standing at? Trying to breathe fresh air? Just looking at the forests and trying to hear the birds chirping?

I went through all the answers that I could give to the people standing behind me, but nothing seemed worthy of believing even to me, let alone the audit team from the pack of the dangerous alpha.

"Cia! What are you doing here?! Shouldn't you be in the class at this time? Wait... It was indeed you, no? You brought the cat to the University again! I swear you will be the death of me," The Dean's angry voice came behind me.

An idea immediately appeared in my head, and I couldn't thank my dean enough.

"I... I didn't bring her this time," I said in a defensive tone, and the dean scoffed.

"You, naughty brat, even if you didn't bring the cat, I am sure she came here looking for you again," The dean said, and I smiled, grateful that they forgot about my actions earlier.

"Go back to your class. We will discuss this later," The dean said, and I nodded towards him, my back still to them as I clenched my backpack in hand and turned around to walk, ensuring my hair hid my face.

Thank god, my dean scolded me right at the time and saved me from some confrontations. I wondered thankfully, but my moment of joy was cut short. Before I could take another step, I heard his voice again.

"I am not done yet. Stand here," The man said.

I gritted my teeth, turning my head and facing the man finally.

I noticed how his pupils dilated a little.

'Does he recognize something?' Aurora asked me as if I could read his thoughts well.

Who knows? I told her before looking directly into his eyes, the look of recognition, a bit too clear.

'What do you think? How many days will we survive after being caught like this?' I asked my fake-wolf.

'Days? How about we bet on hours?' Aurora asked and I smiled bitterly.

Thank you for the motivation and moral support. I totally feel relaxed now. I wanted to say to my wolf sarcastically.

"I would like to talk to her alone," The man said, and the dean looked at me with a stern expression.

"Behave," He said before leaving.

What was with people telling me to behave today? They were acting like I was the naughtiest person alive on earth. I scowled inwardly before looking back at the man in front of me.

I was so gone. He probably recognized that I am the rogue werewolf, and that's why he wants the dean, who is a human, out of the area so he can talk to me, more like imprison me and take me back to their pack to punish or at worst execute me.

Huh... If there is no other way, and I am going to die either way, I am not going to do it like a coward.

I have had enough people treating me like I am someone lower to them just because I don't have a wolf. Taking a deep breath, I looked back at the man, a bit too confident this time.

Judging from his dominating aura, there was no doubt he was probably the beta of the pack.

"What are you doing here?" He asked me, and I quirked my brows.

Out of all the questions, this was the least expected thing I thought he would ask me.

From what I heard about their pack's adventures with rogues, I am sure this isn't the first thing they ask the rogue. And where was their dagger that should have already been on my neck?

"What do you mean?" I asked, wanting them to say the word first.

"You don't know what I mean?" He stepped forward, invading my privacy, and I looked up at him with his blazing-hot eyes full of confusion.

"Do you know who I am?" I asked, and the man in front of me scoffed.

"Are you testing me, girl?" He asked, his eyes darkening a little, his deep voice exerting his dominance, and I gulped as a shiver ran down my spine.

If the beta of this pack was so good and Powerful, just how powerful would their alpha be? I shook my head at the mere thought. I wouldn't want to meet that monster ever.

"Are you talking about something that starts with W?" I asked, and a smirk appeared on his face.

"Yes," He said, probably finding my situation funny.

Heck, even I find my situation funny.

"I would like to speak to your A in that matter," I whispered, almost cooing, and he raised his brows at me.

Yes. That was my newly formed plan. Just take me out of here, and while we would be on our way, I would jump out of the car, change into my cat, and run far away.

"To my A?" He asked, and I moved my hands softly so he could bring his face close to mine, and though there was a confused look on his face, he complied nonetheless.

"Your superior. You know, the one who runs your Pack," I whispered, and he paused for a brief second, turning his head to look at me as if I was some kind of alien that he was trying to figure out.

"Our alpha?" He asked, and I nodded with a small cunning smile.

"Interesting," He said.

"What is a she-wolf like you doing here in the first place?" The man asked casually, using those forbidden words carefree.

"For a law-abiding pack, does your alpha know his people go around saying these forbidden words in the human territories?" I asked, raising my brows when something caught my attention.

Wait. Why did he call me a she-wolf and not a rogue? Does their pack have a soft spot for the females? No. That can't be the case.

'It's because of the pendant you are wearing stupid. It's not easy for the other wolves to even know you are a she-wolf. This beta must be really powerful and on par with other alphas to be able to smell you,' Aurora explained.

I hummed. Right. How could I forget about it?

But what was I doing here? I don't even know how much they know about me, or if they are here, particularly for the rogue. I bit my lips anxiously when I received the call from the number that I had been dialing for so long.

A relieved sigh escaped my lips, and I looked at the beta of their pack.

"Excuse me," I said before picking up Dylan's call.

"Hello," I said.

"Who is it?" Dylan asked, and the little strain I had on my emotions felt slipping immediately.

If he hadn't called me so soon, I would've almost lost my sh*t.

"Dylan, it's me," I said, my voice soft because I was sure those people could clearly hear me.

"You finally called me after all this time of telling you that this was the better way of communication?" Dylan asked, chucking at the end of his sentence.

"Dad! It's Val!" Dylan shouted on the other end, probably to call Uncle Jonathan, and a smile immediately appeared on my face.

"I am in a bit of an issue here. The subordinates of the neighboring pack came to the University to do some kind of audit, and the beta is asking me what a person like me is doing here," I asked, ensuring my voice was only loud enough for those people to hear.

There was silence on the other hand for some time, and I turned to look at the beta and his men, his stance making me gulp.

"Are you scared, baby?" Dylan asked, and a blush crept up my neck when I saw the man in front of me quirking his brows, probably hearing Dylan's words.

"Shut up, will you? What I want to know is what am I supposed to tell them?" I asked Dylan, who just sighed and asked me to give the phone to the beta of the pack.

"Here," I walked to him.

He looked at the phone in my hand before taking it and placing it near his ears casually.

"Hmm,"

"For what?"

"Research?"

"Okay," the man said before he gave the phone back to me, and I noticed the call was still going on.

"Is there anything else?" I asked, and Dylan sighed.

"Stay safe, princess. I will bring you back to keep you safe in my arms forever. Just wait for me for some more time," Dylan said, and I sighed, not saying anything.

"I will call you later," I whispered before ending the call and looking at the beta of the pack.

"Is the confusion clear?" I asked, and the man hummed.
