Chereads / Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna / Chapter 8 - She said- Meow

Chapter 8 - She said- Meow

VALENCIA'S POV

"Uhhh, why do the lectures have to be in the morning? I am already sleepy. And who the hell puts lectures first thing in the morning? Shouldn't it be something practical?" I couldn't help but groan, my head drowsy as soon as I sat in my last seat near the window.

My other friends turned to look at me, an amused smile on their faces as always.

I can't blame them.

They don't understand my struggle.

'What kind of struggle? The struggle of needing more sleep and being lazy?' Aurora scoffed.

I scowled at her.

'Isn't it all because of you? Who asked you to transition into a cat? Cats are sleepy and lazy and they are savage too. So be careful of what you say to me,' I said to Aurora who rolled her eyes.

'Why should I be careful? You are my human counterpart. I am the one who is the cat here-' Aurora paused while I smirked inwardly.

She probably realized her mistake.

'Yeah? Last time I checked you said you were a wolf,' I grinned while Aurora gritted her teeth before shutting up immediately.

"It's 10 am, Cia. Stop acting like it's 6 am. And who is speaking about lectures? Didn't you almost burn the entire chemistry lab because you fell asleep while keeping a gaze at the slow-burning liquid in the burner?" Henry scoffed.

I pouted my lips, not liking the way he was countering me with facts.

"He is bullying me," I looked in my front, and Tracy immediately glared at Henry, who sank in his seat.

"No one dares to bully my friend. If she says it's unfair, it's unfair," Tracy stood from her place and literally pushed Henry out of his seat before sitting with me and linking her hands with me.

"Hehe, only you care for me," I placed my head on Tracy's shoulders as she caressed my hair.

Yeah, I loved my life in the human kingdom because here I could act all spoiled and find good friends who wanted to be with me and spend some time together along with having fun.

They don't judge me for being weak, for being weird, or for being secretive (that I surely am sometimes).

"Dang, the men coming for the audit are truly one of a kind," I heard Leen exclaim in front of me, and I peeked at the post on the University's forum.

The team was already here? I knew the team usually came from the nearest pack, which happens to be the Dark Callisto Pack, one of the strongest and most feared packs in the entire nation.

I looked around, a little nervous, hoping that my human friends would share their scents with me and blend with mine perfectly, hiding my scent aided with this pendant.

"Well, these are not the men that came last time. It's different this time," Henry said, his gaze jealous as he noticed Tracy looking at the men with an envious gaze.

"Of course, it's different. I heard the Dean say that for some reason, the audit team made the change at the last second. The main founder also came this time. I heard he is one of the most handsome men in the entire state, and only a few people get the privilege to see him," Tracy scoffed.

My heart thumped, skipping a beat before it started to beat at a pace that I didn't know I was capable of.

W-what did she say? The main founder? Didn't it mean the alpha of the Dark Callisto Pack, the strongest Alpha of all was coming himself? But why did he feel the need to come to the audit? It's a human University!

Shouldn't he be busy as heck because of all the assignments given to them? I haven't seen the alpha or his pack members myself, but I heard a thing or two from Dylan, not to mention the stories about how he once shredded another alpha with his bare hands in his human form right in front of his Luna and even drank his blood.

But that wasn't even the scariest part.

The scariest part was that this alpha had vowed to hunt down every criminal rogue and kill them. He was rejected by his rogue mate, and then when the rogues attacked his pack. He bore a deep hatred for the species.

And who I was?

I was the infamous rogue that everyone was looking for. I was the first Omega Rogue who REJECTED an ALPHA. The rogue, who has committed crimes like theft and murder.

A shudder ran down my spine at the thought of what this alpha would do with me if he found out I was here, breaking human laws, studying at the same University as them, the University that was sponsored by him.

Why did I commit to this kind of thing?

I knew everything, right?

Well, because I was sure since this University was sponsored by the strongest alpha himself, no one would ever suspect anything here. And I will be safe. That was how I had been living for the past 6 months.

What the hell changed? Why did he suddenly come to this University to check things himself? Did he find out something about me?

But that wasn't even possible...

No. It wasn't a time to think about all this b*llshit. It was time to run away. Run far away until this audit is over so that the alpha can't catch me.

I stood abruptly from my place before grabbing my backpack.

"Where are you going, Cia?" Henry looked at me, confused.

"To run," I whispered.

"Run?" They looked at me, and I cleared my throat.

"Since I am feeling too sleepy, it's only fair that I run a little and wake myself up. I will be back by lunch," I said before rushing out of the class.

Without a delay, I pulled out my scarf from my backpack and covered my face with it before dialing Dylan's number.

What was I supposed to do in a situation like this?

I hope he picks up the call and doesn't decline after seeing the unknown number since this was the first time I was calling him.

Yes. I regret not taking his advice and calling him earlier.

'I have a better option to tackle this situation,' Aurora said, and I furrowed my brows.

This was the first time Aurora was helping me devise a plan.

Then again, it was the strongest alpha we were talking about, the girl was probably scared herself and knew our life was more precious than our usual banter.

"Is that so? What should we do?" I asked, waiting for her million-dollar genius advice.

"Turn into a cat," Aurora said while nodding as if it was the only way out.

I - "..."

She just didn't say that, did she? I can't believe I actually believed her.

How can she even say those words?

We were already breaking laws by being in a human University, and now she wanted me to turn into a cat and make it an even bigger crime? Way to go, Aurora.

I would've given her a snarky reply if I hadn't been pressed for time.

Even Dylan wasn't picking up.

I will think about how to deal with the Dean later. For now, I needed to run. I told myself before running out of the corridor towards the stairs.

I looked at the University forum, my heart drumming in my chest when I noticed the latest post filmed by a student named Xi. Only the backs were visible, but it was enough. According to the surroundings, it was clear the group of men were coming right towards our building.

No! Just F*ck my luck!

Wait. He is an Alpha. He must value his time a lot. I nodded at myself. He will be taking the elevator for sure.

It means if I take the stairs, I might narrowly escape him.

Once I am out of the University grounds, I will change into my cat, and then after that, even the heavens won't be able to recognize me.

It was a brilliant plan in my head.

'Or you can just take the window,' Aurora commented.

'We are on the freaking fifth floor,' I gritted my teeth at her.

Aurore smiled at me.

'So what? Aren't you a cat? A cat gets 9 lives. Then again, you can die at the alpha's hands too. You will have 8 lives left,' Aurora nodded again, and I massaged my head in annoyance. This wolf seriously gets on my nerves sometimes.

Look at her making jokes about my dilemma.

I took the stairs and was only on the third floor when Aurora cleared her throat again.

"What is it?" I asked, annoyed.

"I feel some werewolves coming our way," she whispered.

I tried to smell the scent and she was right.

I looked down from the railings and noticed two men walking upstairs.

What the heck?!

Did they smell me?!

I turned around and exited the stairs on the third floor, quickly running in the other direction to save myself.

Please, moon goddess, save me this one time, and I swear I won't steal any food from any pack on 2 consecutive weekends. I prayed while hiding behind the stairs of the back side of the building.

'Just two?' I heard a voice, and I gritted my teeth.

'Three! That's the most I can go,' I growled, and as soon as I said those words, I widened my eyes when I felt my body transition.

"Aurora!" I growled at the girl, who smiled.

I was about to change back into my human form, but before I could do that, I felt some footsteps move towards me.

I looked up and saw a man looking down at me.

"A cat? What is a cat doing in the University?" The man asked, and I was about to make a sound and run away when the man stepped away from in front of me, and my gaze fell on one of the most handsome men I have ever seen.

I started with his clean black shoes, going up to his gray slick-fitting pants, um.. no my gaze didn't stop there before I traveled up to his black shirt. His veiny hands, his shirt that was rolled down to his elbows, his two buttons that were undone and showed off his wheatish skin before traveling to his Adam's apple. I took a shaky breath there before trailing my gaze to his slightly pink lips before my gaze finally met his hazel eyes.

And oh boy.....

Wowwww! I wanted to say. But what came out of my mouth was...

"Meowww,"

And let me tell you, I was very ashamed of what I did just now.
