"Why are you helping me? I appreciate that but… it seems out of character. You wanted to be left alone, didn't you?"
Ellianor questioned as he saw her darkened expression, even if it lasted for a fraction of a second.
Juan's lips twitched as she looked away, a blasè look and a faked carefree expression on her face. "Guilt is one hell of a trip and makes you worry about things. I feel I had not done enough."
A surprisingly mundane motive, but heartfelt. Ellianor sighed as he fell on his butt, looking at the ugly ceiling above their heads. "I can get your feeling."
How guilty he felt over failing Kissenn and how it feels to lie to her. A part of his heart hurts. There are no good excuses beyond what needs to be done, but it does not make things easier.
Lying does not get easier, and the hurt remains the same, but as time goes on, you get better at crafting lies to fool yourself.
