[Hey put me down man it's cold up here!]
Simon cried inwardly to his Harpy father who was holding him up in the air.
"Haha! He's glaring at me!"
Hawke exclaimed loudly.
"He's already showing traits of a warrior!"
"Hawke! Put him down or he'll catch a cold, he's just a newborn you know!"
His Harpy mother shouted, glaring at Hawke.
[You heard her! Put me down you lunatic I'm freezing!]
"Okay, okay don't get mad Anaise."
Hawke shrugged, and gave Simon back to Anaise.
"He has your eyes..."
Anaise said, cradling her baby.
"Yeah, and he has your curly hair."
Hawke smiled softly, gently brushing his son's hair.
"But his wings... They are a color I have never seen before."
Hawke muttered, fluttering his large, dark blue wings.
"...Yes, I have never seen anyone with such pitch-black wings either."
Anaise nodded.
[Huh? Is that a bad thing?]
[Shit...]
[Am I going to be treated like an outcast for having different wings?]
[Maybe we could dye them blue or something right? Or maybe they'll change as I grow?]
He mused, stealing glances at his Harpy parent's expressions.
"But I think they're pretty and unique."
Anaise said in a gentle tone.
"Yes, he is the only one in the world with such wings, it sets him apart from the rest!"
Hawke declared proudly, beating his wide chest.
"He is perfect just the way he is."
Anaise said, kissing her baby on the forehead.
"Yes he is. I am so happy you were born my son. You are our little blessing. "
Hawke said, his eyes welling up with tears.
[...]
[...So I don't have to change?]
[Damn it... Why do I feel so happy?]
Simon felt warmth in his little chest and his eyes becoming teary.
His small frame could not contain the surge of emotions building up within him and he burst.
"Waah!"
He cried.
[Damn it...]
Anaise and Hawke embraced their son in both their arms.
[I'm so happy...]
"Waaah!"
A few minutes passed.
"By the way Hawke, have you decided on a name yet?"
"Yes..."
[A new name huh? I guess I won't be called Simon anymore.]
[You better not give me a shitty name dude...]
Hawke took a step backward and placed his veiny hand on his son's forehead.
"Your name is Berkah..."
"Berkah Featherblade."
[That sounds fucking awesome!]
[... although that last name is a little cringe. ]
Berkah wriggled his body and giggled.
"It would seem he likes it haha!"
Hawke placed his fists on his waist as he laughed out loudly.
"Wow you're really a papa's boy huh, little Berkah?"
Anaise said, pouting, still jealous that Berkah only smiled for his father and not her.
[...Seriously, it's not that deep.]
"Anaise..."
Hawke's expression suddenly became stern.
"I must return to defend the city now..."
"...Are we still under siege?"
Anaise's voice was laced in worry and anxiety.
"Yes..."
Hawke replied through gritted teeth.
"What makes matters worse is that I also have to deal with those damn old geezers from the council, I have to fight a war on two fronts because of them!"
He roared, balling up his fist.
"I understand my love, please return safely."
*smooch!*
She extended her neck and kissed her husband.
[Don't kiss in front of your kids! Keep it PG!]
"We should also keep the birth of Berkah a secret for now until I resolve the political issues."
Hawke said, gently patting Berkah's head.
[Are you a congressman or what?]
Berkah mused.
"I'll see you soon my son~"
Hawke said, leaning in to kiss his son on the cheek.
[!!]
*smooch!*
"Ababu goo ba!"
Translaton: Don't fucking kiss me you bastard!!
"Woah he's so feisty! Haha! That's my son alright."
"Abuna gaga!"
Translation: Shut up! Don't ever kiss me again!
With a flap of his large wings Hawke generated a gust of wind and ascended into the sky.
He waved back toward his family and dived nose first.
[He's going down? I guess we're pretty high up...]
Anaise, carrying Berkah on one wing, walked over to the ledge and waived at Hawke whose figure was being swallowed up by the clouds below.
[!!]
[Woah are those clouds down there?! Just how high up are we? No wonder it's so freezing up here!]
Berkah cried inwardly.
[So cool, I can't wait to fly like that...]
[I should make the best out of this life unlike my previous one...]
[These two don't seem too bad so I'll stay with them until I'm old enough to take care of myself...]
[Well it's not like I have a choice...]
"*yawn*"
[I'm so sleepy...]
[Guess I'll just... close my eyes for a little bit...]
Berkah felt a deep drowsiness which he could not resist and fell fast asleep.
//
[!!]
[Ugh... how long was I asleep?]
[Hmmm... my stomach is full...]
[Sigh... I suckled again didn't I...]
Berkah had instinctively suckled in his sleep.
[I will seriously never recover from this...]
Moving his eyes around, he saw a dimly lit room, or rather a cave. The light from the candle barely illuminated the large cave but he could still see a little bit.
Underneath him he felt a soft bed made of feathers and grass.
And on top of him he felt the familiar warmth of Anaise's wings hugging him tightly as if she had no intention of ever letting him go.
Even as she was snoring she maintained her tight grip, wrapping Berkah tightly, not allowing even the smallest breeze to reach him.
[Ugh why is she holding me so tightly? It's not like I'll run away or anything. ]
He wriggled his tiny body to try and break free, he was curious about the surroundings of the cave so he wanted to investigate.
Well, that's not all he wanted to do...
[I want to poop damn it! How am I supposed to poop with you so close to me?!]
He cried inwardly, still vigorously trying to break free.
[...]
Casting his eyes below his body, he beheld something made of feathers that resembled a diaper, tightly wrapped around his waist.
[Are you telling me to just... poop myself?]
[No! Never!]
He wriggled his body again.
But...
Naturally, babies have little to no control over their bowel movement.
[...]
[It's too late...]
He laid there with a blank expression on his face.
[... I will seriously never recover from this.]
Tears trickled down his round cheeks and he cried himself to sleep.
/////
"Berkah~"
"It's time for breakfast."
Anaise called out to Berkah who was playing just outside the cave, in the large nest where he had hatched.
"Okay~"
Berkah responded in a squeaky voice and made his way into the cave.
[I've been couped up in this damn cave for two years now!]
[I'm just happy that I can eat real food now, the last two years have been a nightmare!]
[... This crazy woman actually wanted me to stay breast fed until I was 5!]
[If it wasn't for Hawke she would have forced me for three more years!]
He fluttered his little wings and ran into the cave.
On top of a table beautifully crafted from wood, he found a bowl full of diced fruits.
"*nom!* *nom!*"
Berkah munched down on the fruit salad.
[These are so delicious! I don't even know what fruits these are.]
"Slow down Berkah, you'll choke. "
Anaise watched, with a gentle smile on her face.
Soon after, Berkah finished eating his breakfast and Anaise stood up from her chair.
"Hey Berkah, I'm going to the city to buy some things okay?"
"Okay."
Berkah responded nonchalantly.
[I've never left him alone since he was born, will he really he okay?]
Anaise bit her lower lip in worry.
"Stay inside and don't play too close to the edge!"
She flapped her wings and soared into the air.
*FWOSH!*
She descended toward the clouds at tremendous speed.
"Finally she's gone..."
Berkah said, his lips twisting up brightly.
"She hasn't left my side at all for the past two years!"
Ever since Berkah could speak, there was something he wanted to test out.
Since he had no idea what would happen, he wanted to test it in private.
[Okay... let's do this!]
He sat down, folding his legs and took a deep breath.
[Let's see if I have it...]
[...The legendary...]
His expression became stern, his bright blue eyes piercing.
"Open Status!"
