Chapter 9 - The portal

I narrowed my eyes at the man before me. He didn't look a day over fifty, why was he giving me all his things?

"I don't understand," I shook my head. "You want me to take over everything you own?"

He nodded. "Yes. You get to have all the resources to live on top again."

"Why?"

"Because I'm dying of cancer and in a year I won't be able to even breathe. I need someone to handle this and there is no better one to give this to than a man who can handle a company better than anyone in the world."

I felt flattered he would say that as I blushed.

"I watched what you did for your wife. You grew her company from a billionaire business to a trillionaire business. You sign contracts every fucking day. I want that for my business and I want you to promise me that you'll take down that bitch. Besides, you have made every hunter troop into her company and I want you to do the same and make my company higher than hers."

"What's the catch?"

"Grow my company and take control over it, but crush your wife and give me peace when I'm gone."

I could do that.

I nodded as I took the pen he handed to me and signed the document.

I was ready to bring down Diana. I would make sure she fell from grace to grass.

I put her there, I will take her down.

"When do I start?" I smiled at the man.

Just then, the entire bar started to shake as everyone started to run away from the bar.

"An earthquake!" I yelled but he shook his head taking the documents on the table.

"That's not an earthquake. That's a portal opening."

I saw his men drop in from the roof with their magic powers as they teleported him out of there and helped everyone except me.

Now I was confused and alone in here.

What was going on?

I was too drunk for this.

I saw everyone using their powers to get out of the bar as I was left alone in the collapsing bar.

Before I could get out of the bar, the heavy table fell on my leg, trapping me there.

"Help!" I yell but no one yelled back at me.

I was alone.

I sat under the table frozen, my eyes wide with terror as nature's fury unleashed itself upon the empty bar. It had begun with a rumble, the floor trembling beneath my feet, as if the very foundations of the building were being tested.

"Anybody here!" Help!"

But no one came to my aid.

The air grew heavy, charged with an electric energy that crackled with an otherworldly power.

The windows shattered, showering the room with shards of glass that glinted like deadly raindrops as I quickly bent down to dodge the shards of glass which tore through my skin.

A violent gust of wind tore through the bar, ripping tables and chairs from their positions, sending them hurtling through the air like projectiles. Even the table on my leg rolled over, crushing my leg as it flew out of the way. I clutched onto the nearest solid object, desperate to anchor myself amidst the chaos.

The pain on my broken leg had me screaming and gritting my teeth but there was nothing I could do except fight to stay alive.

Through the howling wind, I could hear the deafening roar of thunder, as if the gods themselves were venting their anger upon this forsaken place.

Lightning danced across the sky, illuminating the bar with an eerie, pulsating glow. The very walls seemed to tremble as the storm raged on.

But amidst the chaos, something unexpected happened.

A portal, just like that Derrick guy said, materialized before me, a swirling vortex of energy that defied the laws of nature.

"Holy shit," my fear intensified as I realized that this was no ordinary storm. It was a convergence of worlds, a collision of realities that threatened to consume everything in its path.

This portal at first started as a little whirling storm no bigger than a table before exploding, sending its cloudy and chilly air rushing through the entire bar as the walls were broken down.

I watched the portal go from a white cloud to blue.

I heaved a sigh of relief.

"Blue means safe and red means danger. Got it."

I could not fight off the dangers that would emerge from the portal but I knew I would be able to defend myself if it ever came to it.

I looked at the standing door of the bar and found it shifting its color from light blue to dark red and felt a strong aura envelop the entire bar.

I turned to see the portal was now a red one and the aura coming from it was too much for one person to endure.

This had never happened before. What was going on?

Before me, it went from red to black.

A black portal? Was this even possible?

I watched in dread as creatures from beyond the portal emerged, their forms twisted and monstrous. They roared with a primal scream, their eyes gleaming with a hunger for destruction.

I was but a helpless witness to this event.

I looked around for anyone who would come to help me out of here but I was alone.

The creatures looked around before settling their eyes on me.

I struggled to my feet and removed my belt which materialized into a sword.

If they attacked me, I would tear them down.

Just then, they smiled before retreating into the portal, leaving me alone.

"That's right!" I yelled when they were all gone. "You'd better run! If not! I'll bring down hell on this earth and tear you all apart!"

There was no response but the roaring portal which got bigger until it was as big as the bar itself.

I lowered my sword and started back when tentacles escaped the portal, wrapping around my legs.

"No!" I yelled, but they dragged me into the portal against my will.
