Author's POV:
Chen Xinyi lurched forward in desperation. "Hubby, please!" She reached out and managed to snag Song Bo's sleeve just before the door slammed shut.
Song Bo turned back towards her, eyes flashing dangerously as she implored, "Forgive me. I did this for us, for our family. We can still work things out and forget about that...that ungrateful Yanyan. She was a disgrace anyway."
The words had barely left Chen Xinyi's mouth before she realized her grave error. Song Bo's expression contorted in a terrifying rictus of rage, seemingly too apoplectic for speech. When he finally found his voice, it was little more than a guttural rasp of barely leashed violence.
"If you say one more nasty word about Yanyan..." he seethed through gritted teeth, seeming to loom over her despite their similar heights. "I will make sure we go back inside those doors. And by the time we come out again, you and I will be exes."
