Ava awoke with a start to the blaring of her alarm clock. Groaning, she blindly slapped at the nightstand until the incessant beeping mercifully stopped.
"Ugh, what time is it?" she mumbled, squinting at the bright red numbers. 7:15 am. She was supposed to be at the office early for a meeting with potential investors.
"Shit!" She bolted upright, already feeling frazzled. Forcing herself out of the cozy warmth of her bed, Ava hurried through her morning routine in record time.
Coffee gulped down, she rushed out the door and into the crisp spring air. On the drive to her marketing firm's high-rise headquarters in Manhattan, Ava's mind inevitably drifted back to her evening with Liam the previous night.
Ava found herself unexpectedly charmed by the roguish entrepreneur. More than once, she had caught herself laughing and conversing openly with the man she had resolutely written off as an irredeemable playboy.
