Back in her room, she picked up the phone and ranted to her best friend Chun Xia.
Chun Xia, unsurprised, said in an 'I-told-you-so' tone, "See, you used to say I was fussy about choosing names, but your family is even fussier than mine."
"Fussy or not is one thing, at least you and your husband can choose for your child. I think, Ayan and I might be stripped of that right," Manman complained, the urge to rake her fingers through her hair overwhelming her.
Chun Xia exclaimed, "That's great! You don't know how lucky you are. Look at my mom and my husband's parents; they said such troublesome matters should be handled by us as a couple. Choosing names is really quite a headache."
Hearing her best friend's tone, which was anything but comforting, Manman pouted, "What's so troublesome about it? Naming is just too simple a thing."
"Simple? A name follows a child for life, how can it be simple?"
"A name is just for calling, right? The most important thing is that it sounds good."
