He didn't directly answer her question, instead, he looked back at her again: "What did you buy?"
"A CD."
"What kind of CD?"
Suddenly, as she was about to blurt out her response, she realized it was improper and closed her lips.
A fleeting glance across her everchanging expression seemed to bring him to a realization, and the corners of his mouth lifted slightly: "Let's go to the cashier together."
"No need," she extended a hand trying to stop him, her head lowered, "I don't need much, just lend me a hundred yuan."
In response, he merely raised the book in his hand: "It just so happens that I was about to pay."
Before she could react with a strategy to her astonishment, he took large strides toward the cashier. As he reached the cashier, her hurried footsteps followed from behind. However, the clerk had already placed the CD she wanted to purchase on the counter and said: "Including the book, the total is 306."
