Stepping back, Nora dodged the splattering blood, then took out a faintly glowing tube and placed it on the ground. As long as the distance wasn't too close, this type of tube wouldn't be detected.
Continuing forward in the darkness, she instantly reached the side of the second soldier. This time, she didn't even use her dagger; she simply grabbed the soldier's neck and twisted it, breaking his neck, then gently laid him down.
Like a ghost, Nora walked through the darkness, hunting down the soldiers at will.
In the silent darkness, everyone held their breath; no one knew that a massacre was taking place.
Blood blossomed in the darkness, flowing across the floor, emitting a faint scent of blood.
Finally, someone sensed something amiss.
Not because of the smell of blood, but because of the instinctual intuition of a seasoned warrior towards danger.
He could feel danger approaching.
Like a cheetah encountering danger, he tensed his body, slowly drawing a military knife from his boot. For safety's sake, he didn't choose to shoot but instead crouched, waiting for the danger to peak. When it did, he suddenly turned and swung his blade.
A splash of blood flew.
Nora grunted as she stumbled back, her figure emerging from the darkness, a grim wound visible on her chest.
"I've got you!" the officer smirked, wielding his knife to stab Nora. Nora sidestepped, grabbing his right hand holding the knife. The officer's knife slashed horizontally, but Nora blocked his wrist with her hand, the two struggling. The officer's strength was noticeably greater; he pushed Nora and stabbed towards her abdomen. Nora pushed back against the wall with all her might, using the force to push the knife back, but the officer sidestepped, dissipating the force.
The two exchanged blows several times, the sound of their fight alarming everyone, each person tense, but none appearing, their nerves taut like strings.
Claire nervously gripped Reno's hand, wanting to go out and see, but Reno held her back, whispering, "Don't move, trust her!"
Claire could only restrain herself.
The sound of the fight continued, faint shouts and grunts of pain could be heard.
Suddenly, a loud crash echoed.
Nora let out a heavy groan, accompanied by the officer's triumphant laughter.
Claire tensed up again.
Reno suddenly glanced to the side, an instrument flying up and heading towards the source of the noise.
The officer turned back and punched, smashing the instrument. Nora jumped up, her dagger stabbing towards the officer, who countered with a knife thrust.
However, Nora didn't dodge, allowing the officer's blade to pierce her body, while she drove her own knife into his throat.
The officer's eyes bulged. "You..."
He seemed unable to understand why she would fight to the death with him. With that, he fell, but before falling, he exerted force to pull the knife out.
"Ugh!" Nora groaned and knelt on the ground.
The damage from the triangular military knife was immense. Because of the three-sided grooves, the wound took on a square shape, almost impossible to heal on its own. Plus, the rotating motion of the knife wielder enlarged the wound, allowing air to enter, resulting in a high fatality rate.
Nora felt dizzy for a moment, but she gritted her teeth and took out a glow stick, throwing it on the ground, then went behind a crate and took out something from her body. She pressed it fiercely, and suddenly a strong light flashed around the hall.
The sudden flash blinded all the soldiers, who cried out in unison.
"Attack!" Reno rushed out of cover, firing continuously at the soldiers in the brightness.
At the same time, Tychus, Claire, and Wang Yile also rushed out, wearing anti-glare sunglasses, pouring ammunition crazily towards the upper part.
Blood crazily bloomed in an instant, vivid red flowers blossoming one after another.
Reno and his three companions stood in the center of the hall, continuously firing, beams of light hitting around them, but they remained indifferent.
When all you can do is done, the rest is left to God.
This is the heartbeat of a soldier.
The light blinded the enemies, evasion was meaningless, the correct course of action was to launch as many attacks as possible in the shortest time, causing the maximum damage to the enemy.
Of course, this also required great courage. Facing a group of experienced veterans, even if their eyes were dazzled by the strong light, they still didn't forget to fire towards the direction of the hall.
Although lacking accuracy, the beams of light still tested the mental fortitude of the soldiers.
But Reno and his team were completely fearless.
Crack! A laser hit Reno's feet, bursting into sparks; Boom! A grenade exploded near Claire, throwing her into the air, but even in the air, she calmly fired upwards; at least ten bullets hit Tychus, who only retreated a few steps before resuming firing recklessly; a laser pierced through Wang Yile's body, but he continued firing incessantly, energy spheres exploding one after another above, firing as if it wasn't a single gun, but four or five particle guns firing together.
The thunderous gunfire completely covered the hall, until the roar of the Vulcan cannon buzzed, and the gunfire finally stopped.
The smoke filled the hall, the extreme chaos just a moment ago turned into extreme silence, not a sound could be heard, as if all the sounds had been filtered out at this moment.
Through the smoke, Reno saw the remnants of soldiers everywhere, blood filling the entire hall, and soldiers' remains scattered everywhere.
No more living souls in sight.
"Nora!" Claire broke the silence and rushed over.
She limped over; her leg was severely injured in the explosion just now, but Claire didn't have time to treat herself because she already felt that Nora was in extreme danger.
Rolling out from behind cover, Nora was panting heavily, her eyes turning white, and blood gushing from her abdomen.
Claire almost crawled over and fell beside Nora.
She grabbed Nora's hand. "You'll be fine, sister!"
Nora smiled.
The energy from Claire continuously healed her, allowing the wound on her abdomen to begin healing.
However, soon Nora felt the energy gradually weakening.
Like Reno and Tychus, Claire's healing also had limits.
She had already healed Reno twice and Tychus once, one of which was a serious injury to Reno, consuming a lot of energy.
Nora's injury was equally severe, requiring a large amount of energy to treat, but Claire had run out of energy.
Realizing this, Claire almost despaired.
She shook her head repeatedly. "No, no, I won't let you die!"
She held Nora's hand tightly, pushing herself to the limit, squeezing herself crazily.
Tychus approached, seeing this scene, also stunned. He wanted to stop Claire from being so desperate, but Reno stopped him.
Tychus looked at Reno. "Both of them will die at this rate!"
"But they might both survive," Reno replied. "Learn to trust your partners, Tychus. Sometimes, a crisis isn't just a crisis; it's more likely an opportunity."
Tychus was puzzled.
Reno waved his hand, and a device in the distance floated in the air, then he grabbed it, and the device transformed under his telekinetic control.
Reno said, "Back on Earth, I did this to a robot, and just disabling one almost exhausted me. But before we entered the research institute, I controlled dozens of mechanical spiders in one breath. Even though controlling movement is easier than disabling, the energy consumption is much greater. Now, for me, doing such a thing is not too difficult."
Tychus began to understand. "Do you think the energy will increase?"
"Just like strength can be trained, so can energy, and the best way to increase it is to challenge the limits. It's not an easy thing to do, and we can't easily accomplish such challenges yet. We always need some goals, some motivation to encourage us, to achieve what was once impossible. That's how I am, and Claire too."
He patted Tychus. "Trust them; life is good at creating miracles."
Under Reno's words, miracles really happened.
Nora's wound began to heal rapidly, and Claire, who should have exhausted her energy long ago, persisted until Nora's wound was completely healed, then smiled and fainted.
On the invisible level of body and mind, some unknowable changes were quietly taking place.
