Chapter 49 - Reunion

Reno's words seemed to anger the werewolf.

He bared his teeth and uttered a muffled voice, "Hey, kid, don't be cocky, I could have torn you apart, then you would never hear human words again."

Reno reached out, and the gun that had flown out returned to his hand with a swish.

With both guns raised, the barrels aimed at the winged woman and the werewolf respectively: "If you had spoken earlier, maybe we wouldn't have to fight."

"It's a misunderstanding. We thought you were a guard," the winged woman replied.

"Is the misunderstanding resolved now?" Reno asked.

"That won't do," another voice piped up.

At the ventilation duct at the other end of the corridor, a head popped out, it was the lizard man from before.

He waggled the long tongue in his mouth at Reno and emitted a sinister laugh, "He killed Charlie and injured me."

"So, we're still fighting?" Reno retorted.

Another gun floated from him, the one he had previously snatched from the guard's hand.

The gun hovered in the air, its barrel aimed at the lizard man.

"Good telekinesis, but the question is, how many guns do you have?" Another heavy voice came from the other end.

It was the bear-man Beppolga.

He strode over, causing the ground to tremble with his steps.

The wounds Reno had inflicted on him seemed to have no effect at all. Reno could see bullets being squeezed out of his muscles, dropping to the ground, and then the wounds began to heal.

Even a real bear couldn't do that.

"More than you'd imagine," Reno replied bluntly.

As he spoke, four silver metal wheels rolled thunderously down the corridor, stopping nearby and automatically opening, extending two gun barrels towards everyone.

It was the search robots Reno had called earlier.

At the same time as the four search robots appeared, several figures of beastified humans appeared in the corridor passage.

Both sides immediately reached a stalemate.

"Hey, wait." Sarah, the female doctor from the other side, called out, "Why can't you just stop fighting? We have no grudges against each other, it's all just a misunderstanding."

Everyone looked at her.

The female doctor shrunk her neck, though afraid, she still gathered the courage to speak: "Enough people have died. It's all over, the hospital is finished, and you're free now. Why can't we let bygones be bygones and avoid killing each other? Haven't you suffered enough? Why stay here waiting for the federal government to come and capture you?"

This finally had an effect.

The beastified people's eyes towards Reno finally changed.

The werewolf said, "Little Sarah is right, our enemy is the New Federation, not each other."

"But Charlie..." the lizard man exclaimed.

"Let it go, perhaps it's a good thing for Charlie, at least he doesn't have to live as a monster in this world anymore, and we, we still bear the torment of being non-human..." Beppolga replied.

His deep voice was tinged with heaviness and sorrow.

No matter how powerful he was, he wouldn't like his current appearance.

After giving Reno a glance, Beppolga turned and walked away.

Next was the werewolf Francis, he bared his teeth at Reno and said, "We'll have another match when the chance arises."

With that, he turned and left, moving at lightning speed.

Finally, the winged woman with long wings flew around in the air and said with a smile, "Hey, handsome, we owe you a lot anyway. If it weren't for you, maybe we wouldn't have gained our freedom now. Can you tell me your name?"

"Johnny Reno."

"Johnny Reno? I'll remember that." The woman tilted her head, stuck out her tongue, licked off the bit of red on her lips, and said, "I'm Stephanie, I have bat genes... vampire bats. Remember my name, don't forget. I have a feeling we'll meet again."

With that, she burst into laughter, spread her black bat wings, and flew outwards.

"Maybe," watching the departing bat woman, Reno replied softly.

Glancing at Sarah, Reno said, "Thank you."

Sarah managed to squeeze out a smile, "You're welcome."

Reno had put away his gun and walked past her.

Standing at the door, he said, "Could you open the door for me?"

"Oh." Sarah woke up as if from a dream and went over to open the door.

Pushing open the door, he saw the body of Dr. Beirut lying on the ground.

His blood had been sucked dry, making him look like a mummy.

Stepping over the body, he saw a wide hall ahead, with rows of freezer cabinets standing, looking like a morgue.

Reno turned his head and saw the control button not far away.

His eyes narrowed, and the control knob was pressed automatically.

A series of noises began to emanate from the hall, and one freezer cabinet door after another opened automatically.

Perhaps because they had just been frozen, the thawing was almost instantaneous. One by one, people stumbled out, coughing loudly.

Those familiar faces were the crew members of the Abrody number Reno was familiar with.

"I'll slaughter you damn bastards!" Angry roars echoed in the hall.

This powerful roar made Reno's spirits rise, "Tychus!"

A tall figure rushed over like a whirlwind and punched Reno in the face.

Reno didn't expect to be greeted by this, and was punched in the face.

It was as if struck by a thick iron rod, Reno's nasal bone was directly crushed, and he flew out.

"Reno, oh my God! Tychus, what are you doing?" A blonde girl rushed out of the crowd and supported Reno, it was Claire.

And the big guy who sent Reno flying shook his head, his voice hoarse, "Sorry, I thought it was those damn doctors, I just woke up from the freezer, my head is still a little unclear."

"Why do I feel like even if you weren't frozen, your head wouldn't be clear?" Someone chimed in.

Laughter erupted from the crowd.

Someone said, "Reno, have you been captured too? It's really regrettable."

"Use your brain, idiot, have you ever seen those doctors release us all at once? When was the last time we talked? Outside the hospital!"

"You mean... God, this can't be true, there's a camp guarding here."

"It's true," said the doctor named Sarah as she walked over. "Your commanding officer has come to rescue you. Congratulations, you're free now."

This statement elicited a burst of excitement.

"Wow, that's amazing! I knew our commander would come to rescue us!" someone shouted.

"Look, look, what did I say? I told you the commander would come to save us, but you didn't believe me."

Everyone was chattering.

"But, Commander, how did you break in? I mean, there are a lot of soldiers outside. A guy tried to escape once, but he failed in the end... they killed him," a soldier asked.

"Who?" Reno asked.

"Sisso," Claire replied.

"McLaren Sisso?"

"Yes."

"Oh God, he's only 24. These bastards!" Reno pounded his fist. "I don't regret killing them now."

"You mean you killed them all?" a soldier came up and asked.

"Yes," Reno replied. "I killed five hundred soldiers in one go, and then Tychus knocked me down with a punch. Tychus, you're amazing!"

Everyone burst into laughter, and Tychus shrugged, "I'm sorry, Commander."

"You should be more sorry... you broke my nose!" Reno groaned, holding his nose.

"Don't worry," Claire replied with a smile.

She gently removed Reno's hand from his face and then placed her right hand on his face.

Reno felt a coolness emanating from her hand, and his nose suddenly didn't hurt as much.

"What's this..." he looked at Claire in surprise.

Claire smiled back at him.

She said, "My ability, I hope you won't be too surprised. I mean... since everyone here has had some strange things happen to them, you shouldn't be an exception."

Under that coolness, Reno felt the pain in his nose rapidly diminishing, and the broken nose bone began to heal again. Soon, the pain disappeared completely.

Claire let go of his hand, and Reno sat up and touched his nose, somewhat unbelievingly said, "Is it okay now? This is much faster than the med bay."

"Hey, Commander, want to see my skill?" a soldier walked over, suddenly turned his head, and rotated it 360 degrees, startling Reno.

"Me too, Commander." Another soldier came over, blinked at Reno, and instantly shrank his body, becoming as small as a newborn baby.

"Me too." Another soldier came over, lay on the ground, and turned into a big black dog.

A large group of soldiers came forward one after another, showing off their abilities, leaving Reno stunned.

Although he had guessed that most of the soldiers on the Abrody had their own superpowers before he came, at the moment he saw them, he was still extremely shocked.

These abilities were varied, some may not have much effect, such as Billy's bonelessness or shrinking the body, but some showed extremely strong practical value, such as Claire's healing ability.

Nevertheless, the soldiers laughed and didn't care much about the level of their abilities.

Soldiers who came down from the battlefield cared most about the camaraderie between each other, and who was high or low, strong or weak, wasn't really that important.

Superpowers had never appeared in human civilization over the past few thousand years. When they suddenly appeared in people's lives one day, freshness and curiosity prevailed, and people enjoyed them rather than obsessing over their superiority.

Only after getting used to such things would everyone start to rank the applicability of abilities high or low, but not now.

Reno looked at Tychus, the most violent member of the mech squad, the craziest fighter, and the one who always had the most amazing results.

He asked, "What about you? Tychus, what's your ability?"

Tychuss grinned, "Shoot me with your gun, Commander."

Reno looked at him, then he shot.

The silver bullet spun out of the barrel and hit Tychus's body, then Reno saw the bullet jump up as if hitting a steel plate.

"Wow." Reno whistled. "Looks good."

"Are you sure?" Reno smiled, then looked at the others.

"Get him!" someone shouted.

"Get him!" Claire shouted loudly.

"Get him!" Everyone shouted excitedly together.

It could be seen that Tychus had offended quite a few people during this time.

"For everyone's needs, and for my nose..." Reno said.

He waved his finger, and the electric snake swished, releasing a large amount of electricity, hitting Tychus.
