Chapter 6 - Eric

"Hello Mr. Eric, is it true that the virtual degree of the world of Destiny can reach 99% of what is advertised?" A reporter in standard professional attire asked politely.

"Of course, beautiful lady, I'm sure that wonderful world will make you linger." Eric had a calm smile on his face. Despite his advanced age, his voice was still middle-aged, and there was not a trace of cloudiness in his two eyes that occasionally flashed with essence.

"The development of full-fledged virtual games has already had a history of more than one hundred and twenty years to this day, and during these years, even the most popular Second World went into decline after only seven years. Mr. Eric, how far do you think this world of Destiny, which is destined to be epoch-making, can go?"

Eric's old eyes narrowed slightly, "If I must have an ideal timeframe, I would like it to be ... permanent." His voice was casual as usual, but a wry, faint smile that no one could detect flashed across his wrinkled old face for an instant.

"Since the world of Destiny is incorporating alien technology, will the worldview of this game be very different from previous games?"

"Worldview?" Eric thought for a moment and shook his head, his expression slowly becoming serious: "The worldview will not change qualitatively, but what I want to say, and what I must say, is that even though this is a simulation game, I hope that people will not treat it as a mere game, but rather as another part of their life. In fact, life is a game full of ups and downs, but the difference is that life can not be archived, there will not be a chance to start from scratch. Life can be a game, but ... never try to game your life. Remember the name of this 'game' - Destiny!"

The scene of the press conference suddenly became eerily quiet, the sudden seriousness of Eric's demeanor and the solemnity in his voice as well as the hint of warning that was vaguely present made them savor every word he said in silence, but ... there was not a single person who could truly understand the meaning of his words, at least for now.

"Hello Mr. Eric, all this time players around the world have been talking and speculating about the core mastermind of Destiny, I wonder if Mr. Eric could reveal a little bit about it."

Eric shook his head and apologized, "I'm sorry, this is a secret that can't be disclosed, however," he smiled mysteriously, "What I can reveal is that the mastermind of Destiny is not above the Earth, I wonder if this answer can satisfy everyone?"

Not above the Earth ... Could it be on an alien planet? Eric's words immediately caused a worldwide buzz.

"Mr. Eric, the fairness of the game has always been one of the biggest concerns of all players. May I ask if the fairness of the Destiny world has been perfected to a degree." A male reporter got up and asked.

Regardless of which game's pre-opening press conference, game fairness would be the question that must be asked, and the questions and answers to this question were surprisingly consistent as if they were going through the motions in the century-long history of the development of virtual games, and without exception, they would swear to guarantee the fairness of the game. However, Eric was silent for a long time in the face of this reporter's question, and then slowly uttered a sentence that made everyone's jaws drop: "In this world, there has never been true fairness."

"This ..." the male reporter who got the unexpected answer froze for a moment.

"The statement that God treats everyone equally is nothing but the most absurd and ridiculous fallacy in my opinion. Perhaps many people will scoff at this sentence I said, then I can remind you of some of the most basic facts ... Children born in the countryside work hard all their lives in order to be able to live a life in the city, while there are children who are born in the city at birth, and his starting point is the former's goal for his entire life, is this fair? Some people are born crippled, while others are born with perfect bodies and looks. And is it fair that two people with the same starting point, one who has worked hard for most of his life to finally have a stable residence, and the other who is lazy, wins the Mark Six lottery and is clothed and fed all his life without any effort? There is never true fairness in this world, not in the real world, not in the world of Destiny, what I can guarantee is that every human player will have a fair starting point - the same number of free attributes, the same number of fixed attributes, follow your will to freely choose your profession... ...As for later, what fate each player will experience, God knows."

Silence, a long silence, silence followed by thunderous applause. Eric retreated in order to advance, the fair starting point that he interpreted was yet more persuasive and convincing than all the previous sworn assurances, and at the same time, it also spoke out the heart of countless people ... there has never been true fairness in the world.

"Mr. Eric, the operation of the world of Destiny has already received the full support of all the national governments and the full support of the world's ten largest banks, so shouldn't the exchange of game coins and real currencies not be out of control as it once was in the past?" Another reporter asked. The words "full support" represented an extremely heavy weight. Although there was only a single word difference between the words "full support" and "strong support", they implied two completely different concepts.

"Oh, this is exactly what I want to specifically state. Alpha and I have gone through a long time of precise calculations on the issue of currency exchange, and the acquisition and expenditure of the game currency in the world of Destiny is also strictly customized by the results of the calculations, and I believe that the exchange with the real currency will definitely not disappoint you all. This point, I can make a guarantee here. In addition, once the currency exchange is opened, the fairness of the game will be greatly reduced, and players with strong family backgrounds will have a much greater advantage than ordinary players. Therefore, in order to be able to extend this relative fairness for a longer period of time, the currency exchange will not be opened right away, and as for how long it will be extended, it has not been decided yet."

"With Mr. Eric' personal assurance, I believe all players will be relieved ..."

Alex watched the whole press conference like a wooden sculpture, and when the press conference ended, the time had also pointed to twelve noon. Alex turned off the TV, lay on his back on the sofa, and pressed his finger on the game wristband ... At once, the world in front of his eyes turned into a blank, and then turned into that previously located colorful Game world.

"Ding ... welcome to the world of destiny, your game character has been created, there are 43 seconds until the game starts, please wait ..."

This voice was not the same as the one Alex had heard before. Obviously, with a huge player base, the reception NPCs assigned by the system would also be a huge number, and the chances of bumping into the same person were extremely small.

"... There are 30 seconds left, please wait ..."

"... There are 20 seconds left, please wait ..."

"...10,9,8...3,2,1...Welcome to the world of Destiny, you have been assigned to novice village number 60001. I wish you a happy game."
