A Chosen Heir

Jared jolted upright in his bed, sweating and whincing, awakened by the shrill pains in his chest that seemed to tear through his body and veins, under his skin. His heart pounded rapidly and harshly as he sat in the dark, hoping that this time the pain wouldn't last for long, that this time was just as short as the long agonizing outbursts of pain swelling in his body. He clinched his covers tightly as his chest heaved up and down, struggling to breathe, feeling every inch of his body writhe as if it was being stabbed by molten blades, his mind faltered as he inwardly thought of affirmations that could ease his pain or atleast help him cope with. His toes curled, locking at the force in which he mustered causing his legs to shake and the covers to uncover a portion of his upper torso as they fell revealing a sickly boy, looking as if he hadn't eating in months with deathly pale skin. His bones could be seen, each breath that he took only made his appearance look far worse. Alas, the pain took another fateful turn as he flinched, groaning in pain, leaning forward trying to mediate the sudden sharpness of pain, his spinal cord could be seen almost as if he had no skin to cover it. Beads of sweat dropped onto the already drenched bedsheets as Jared face darkened realizing that this pain was a lot sharper than all the others. And suddenly Jared couldn't hold the earge to cough, trying to hold it in with his will but with his body being too weak, blood splattered over his bed sheets, shooting to the end of the bed. A puddle of blood could be seen in his lap as his body was hunched over himself, his hands still grasping the covers albeit faintly as his grip began to loosen. Jared's eyes began to haze as he stared at the puddle of blood in his lap,as if frozen, realizing that he was dying... Jared thought, "I see... My time has come." as if on cue, the last bit of Jared's will to live was gone and his body limply fell onto his bed. His hair loosely covered his face as the blood seeped into the bed sheets, staining, the white pearled bed onto rose red.
