Chapter 28: Intelligence Challenge (III)
"Mmmh," Nova hummed as he saw the current room.
Looking around curiously, the current room was different from the previous ones, but the only difference was only two things: the light blue color that was all over the room and a lady sitting on a chair with her legs crossed.
The blue room was flat and spacious like all the others, with a light blue looking as if it were the sky itself.
And the lady, almost at the epicenter of the room, was sitting in a simple wooden chair.
The woman looked no older than 40, her beauty was a little taller than average, with not-so-intense golden hair, honey-colored eyes, and a face that didn't seem to have many wrinkles, despite her age.
She was wearing a white secretary's uniform, with tight jeans and a white shirt top, covered by a black leather jacket.
But Nova didn't look much further, nor did she pay much attention to him.
He simply saw her appearance and approached his at a normal pace.
He didn't think his head down, he was completely focused on the current challenge, and the lady in front of him very well maybe someone who didn't care about the lives of others, like a mere breeze.
In fact, in the game, all master strategists don't care about the lives of others, she seemed to be no exception with that emotionless look she was giving Nova.
Reaching a suitable distance, Nova stopped walking, staying a couple of meters away from the lady.
'It's now...', Nova thought, at the same time activating his earrings, more specifically his "genie" passive.
The lady assessed him for a few seconds up and down, bottom to top.
Finishing, she touched her bracelet, which was similar to Nova's, but with silver edges.
From them, a light blue hologram came out, levitating above the bracelet and thus the lady's wrist.
"I'm going to ask you three questions and you must answer them correctly, each one is difficult and on different subjects, OK?" said the lady. Her words were cold and emotionless, at the same time she tapped several times on the hologram in front of her.
"Okay," he affirmed also with a nod, agreeing.
"If you are on a mission given to you by the organization, on that mission, you are seriously injured and with hundreds of people surrounding you, what would you do?", asked the lady with her eyes fixed on Nova, as if she was judging him.
Nova, calm and collected, actually knew this answer. After all, even though he was never inside the organization, there was a lot of talk on the game forums about them and also answers to difficult questions.
This question, naturally, had an answer that Nova read on the game forums.
It took him a few seconds to give the impression as if he was thinking, but it wasn't long. After all, showing confidence in the answer is important, but he also didn't have to give the impression that he knew it all along.
"I'm going to try to kill as many as possible before my death, do anything to keep them from interrogating me, and die trying," Nova stated confidently.
The lady nodded approvingly, starting to ask her second question.
"If you see that in that same mission, they caught one of your companions who was going with you, what would you do?", another question came from the lips of the lady, who this time had a curious smile on her face.
Applying the same methods as the other time, Nova remembered this same question of the more than one hundred that are programmed in this challenge.
"If I see that one of my companions was caught, my priority is to kill him," Nova answered as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
The organization takes coolness and confidence into account when making decisions, they don't want anyone to know what's going on inside the organization, so the priority is to eliminate anyone who knows.
It was a cruel method, but effective, since no one knows what the organization does, no one knows... less Nova and the truth, he does not even want to see it again, another thing is to see it on a screen and another is to experience it in real life.
The lady, upon hearing Nova's answer, smiled happily, she seemed delighted that someone intelligent and full of "loyalty" was going to join the organization.
With that, he asked the final question.
"What is it that is in front of you, but you can't see it?".
To this question, Nova thought for a moment, then several seconds, then up to a minute.
Turns out... He didn't remember this question from the forums!
But he didn't have a panicked expression, he already knew that something like this would happen after being a single day inside this world.
He wasn't the least bit confident now of the information he had about the game, that's why, the earrings and the genie passive were activated at their maximum power, glowing slightly.
The lady also felt curious about the glow of the earrings but said nothing, after all, there was no rule that the items were forbidden.
Nova quickly calculated and analyzed the answer, obviously, the first thing that came to his mind was the classic nose answer, but that was too simple now, so he had another option a little wilder...
"The future, more precisely, time, I can't see it, but simple is there."
At Nova's response, the lady smiled again, rising from her seat.
"Well, you passed, I hope you pass the final challenge," she commented with a cheerful smile and a very happy voice.
Nova smiled as well. "Thanks to you, I was able to perform the test easier, thank you very much," Nova thanked.
It wasn't because he felt truly grateful for her, but because she was a supervisor and also the one who was going to give him the grade, saying a few sweet words before leaving might make his grade improve if improvement was needed.
She nodded, and at the same time, the door behind her parted, confirming the completion of the test.
"Well, see you later." "Yeah, see you later."
Bidding them both farewell, Nova walked past her, slowly passing the door in front of his.
