Chapter 53 - Chapter 53: End Of Training

During the seven days, the Seven Monsters of Shrek Academy had gained a lot of experience, but they had also sustained some injuries. Fortunately, they were only minor injuries, with no major issues.

Gu Yi timely sent out a signal, which appeared like a brilliant light shining through the sky, displaying a dazzling radiance. It was located on the outskirts of the Star Dou Forest, where there were basically no thousand-year spirit beasts. Even though thousand-year spirit beasts didn't pose much threat to him, their numbers could still overwhelm him if there were too many. Unless there was a huge qualitative difference, the quantity still played a significant role.

Even though they hadn't given it much attention, the Seven Monsters had all been thinking about how Gu Yi would spread the signal. Everyone was surprised by the extravagant display of Gu Yi's signal. Even the other spirit masters within the Star Dou Great Forest noticed Gu Yi's boldness.

"Able to fly in the sky, this person is actually a Titled Douluo." A beautiful woman looked at the figure in the sky. She was dressed in white clothes and was untouched by dirt, as if she were a god who had descended into the world.

Almost everyone had the same goal: to be the first to reach Gu Yi and seize that mysterious surprise. But there were exceptions, such as Ning Rongrong. She knew she was a auxiliary type spirit master and couldn't possibly reach Gu Yi before Tang San or Zhu Zhuqing. It was simply unrealistic.

Actually, Ning Rongrong had misunderstood a bit. Gu Yi was fair in his teaching methods, adjusting them according to each student's spirit master profession. For example, Ning Rongrong and Oscar were the closest to him. Meanwhile, Zhu Zhuqing and Ma Hongjun were placed farthest away. The positions of the others were more or less the same.

Gu Yi wouldn't favor any student just because he liked them. Even though he had some criticisms of Tang San, he wouldn't make things difficult for him during training. After all, unlike a certain Grandmaster he still had his professional ethics. However, outside of teaching, he would act based on his preferences. Teaching Zhu Zhuqing martial arts was following his heart, not wanting this girl to lose hope in the world.

Gu Yi didn't keep up the signal for too long. It dissipated from his body after about thirty seconds.

Gu Yi then maximized his perception. This was the time when mistakes were most likely to happen, as such he couldn't afford any errors.

Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track truly lived up to being Tang Sect's secret movement technique. This technique allowed Tang San to maintain his speed without any decrease even in this situation. His performance allowed him to call himself a Speed Attack type spirit master if he wanted.

Although Zhu Zhuqing didn't have any special movement techniques, her naturally agile martial spirit, coupled with her womanly naturally coordinated body, made her movements no worse than Tang San's. Her speed was even faster. However, Ma Hongjun and Oscar were not far behind, and Oscar was the closest.

In the end, Tang San emerged victorious. When Oscar was about to reach him, he was entangled by a nearly thousand-year spirit beast, delaying him. Zhu Zhuqing barely secured the fourth position because she was the farthest away. And Ma Hongjun took the third position.

Compared to these people, Zhu Zhuqing's potential was still lacking. Not only was her body lacking, but her martial spirit and spirit power were also inferior. Losing was inevitable.

Gu Yi then presented the mysterious surprise he had promised earlier.

"Tang San, this is a technique I created a few years ago that can condense the power of plants and trees. It may be able to compensate for the deficiencies in your martial spirit." Gu Yi couldn't remember how many techniques he had created. With so many meridians in the human body, each of them had a different function. And he had experimenter with them and created many different techniques.

"Thank you, Vice Dean." Tang San accepted the technique from Gu Yi. Although the Mysterious Heaven Technique was already sufficient for his cultivation, Gu Yi was not simple. Especially with martial spirits and meridians, these techniques created by him could still be learned from and improved upon.

"Congratulations to all of you for completing the wilderness survival training. I didn't lie. I have prepared a unique special technique for each of you."

Gu Yi took out seven books and handed them to them.

Tang San: Tranquility Technique

Zhu Zhuqing: Lingbo Weibu

Oscar: Six Meridian Divine Swords

Ma Hongjun: Flame Explosion

Dai Mubai: Duanquan[1]

Xiao Wu: Chin Na[2]

Ning Rongrong: Shadowless Leaping

Gu Yi looked at the surprised seven individuals. These were martial arts he had thought long and hard about creating. Basically, they were designed to compensate for what they lacked.

Tang San made him hesitate the longest. Compared to the other six, Tang San basically didn't lack any martial arts. He didn't lack in inner cultivation methods, eye techniques, hand techniques, lightness skills, or grappling skills. After much thought, he finally thought of this technique, which he had inadvertently developed.

This technique didn't have much effect on improving strength or increasing perception. It only had one function: tranquility. It calmed down emotions, and is used to quell the inner fire. Perhaps it could cleanse his body of all the killing intent, so he wouldn't always resort to death so readily. Whether he practiced it or not was up to him.

"Now that you're all assembled, let's go back together. I'll be waiting for you at Shrek Academy." After saying this, Gu Yi flew away directly.

The seven people looked at each other. What could they do? They had to run.

Gu Yi finally waited for the person he wanted to wait for at Shrek Academy.

"Old Poison, you finally came." Dugu Bo was a bit helpless. After all, he had stood Gu Yi up for the planned event. But who could have expected Tang Hao to be here?

Over the years, he had claimed that his strength had greatly improved and he was no longer the Weakest Douluo he used to be. But facing Tang Hao, he had no confidence at all. After all, the gap was too big.

"This is what you wanted. Why do you need these things?" Dugu Bo tossed a leather pouch to Gu Yi, still puzzled.

"These things are not simple. I don't have the ability to use them right now. Let's put them aside for now." Gu Yi opened it and looked inside. It was indeed what he needed.

"By the way, why didn't Dugu Yan come with you this time?" Gu Yi was somewhat puzzled. After all, Dugu Yan used to come over frequently, but this time she didn't come with Dugu Bo. It was somewhat surprising.

"Ah, it's all because your strength improved too quickly. Yan'er was completely stimulated by you, always looking for poison, and striving to cultivate. She still hasn't found a direction." Dugu Bo looked at Gu Yi with a strange look.

"Old Poison, if we don't talk about this matter, we're still good friends." Gu Yi just felt a headache coming on.

Dugu Bo also knew the boundaries and didn't mention it again. Suddenly, he became serious.

"About that matter, have you really decided?"

"Of course, I've been preparing for this for five years." Gu Yi also put away his smile.

Dugu Bo looked at Gu Yi's increasingly mature appearance.

From the moment he arrived in Soutou City, no, from the moment Yan Yan saw this kid, he had already set things in motion.

Glossary:

[1]Duanquan- Duanquan, also known as short-range boxing is a short-range style of martial arts. A highly-dynamic and combat-oriented martial art, duanquan focuses on short and compact routines, low stances, and quick movements. Practitioners are taught to be highly mobile, in order to keep the opponent disoriented and unable to attack. Low stances and small but quick movements are major features of this style. They also use simple and sudden moves and the techniques are executed smartly, wasting no energy. The duanquan fighter moves around to avoid the opponent's attack and then moves in close to deliver multiple counter-attacks.

[2]Chin Na- Chin Na is a set of joint lock techniques used in Chinese martial arts to control or lock an opponent's joints or muscles/tendons so they cannot move, thus neutralizing the opponent's fighting ability. It literally translates to lock catch technique.

Chin Na can generally be categorized as:

-"Fen jin" or "zhua jin" (dividing the muscle/tendon, grabbing the muscle/tendon)- They refer to techniques which tear apart an opponent's muscles or tendons.

-"Cuo gu" (misplacing the bone) - It refer to techniques which is used to put bones in wrong positions and is usually applied specifically to joints.

-"Bi qi" (sealing the breath)- It is the technique of preventing the opponent from inhaling. This differs from mere strangulation in that it may be applied not only to the windpipe directly but also to muscles surrounding the lungs, supposedly to shock the system into a contraction which impairs breathing.

-"Dian mai" or "dian xue" (sealing the vein/artery or acupressure cavity)- These are the techniques used for sealing or striking blood vessels and chi points.

-"Rou dao" or "rou shu dao" (soft techniques)- It generally refers to the techniques deemed safe for sparring and/or training purposes.
