Byakuya felt increasingly uneasy as he stared at the newspaper in his hand.
He couldn't shake the thought that this could indeed be the critical moment he dreaded.
He had to act, even if it wasn't the exact event he feared, to prevent any potential tragedy.
Byakuya couldn't accept letting things unfold disastrously when he had foreknowledge of the future.
Desperately, he dialled the Den Den Mushi on Zephyr's ship, hoping to warn his teacher about Edward Weevil, and hopefully, prevent the impending tragedy.
However, his anxiety grew as the call went unanswered. Byakuya realized that his fears were likely correct; otherwise, the call would not be ignored.
"Smoker! Come here at once!" Smoker, in the neighbouring office, was startled by Byakuya's urgent tone—something he had never heard before.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Smoker hurried into Byakuya's office and noticed the report in Byakuya's hand.
"What's wrong, Byakuya?" Smoker asked, his voice tense.
Byakuya waved the newspaper, "Do you know where Teacher Zephyr is right now?"
"Instructor Zephyr?"
Smoker hesitated, "The news in this report is from two days ago. We haven't received any new updates, so it's impossible to determine Admiral Zephyr's exact location."
Frustrated, Byakuya threw the newspaper onto the desk.
Searching the vast ocean without a specific location was like finding a needle in a haystack—it was practically impossible unless there was some sort of tracking system.
However, the technology in the pirate world wasn't advanced enough for reliable tracking.
However, he remembered that while mainstream technology was lacking, there were still some unique tools available.
Byakuya's eyes lit up as he asked, "Smoker, someone like Teacher Zephyr, a former admiral, should have a Vivre Card, right?"
After a moment's thought, Smoker nodded. "I haven't heard the admirals mention it, but for someone as powerful as him, a Vivre Card likely exists."
A Vivre Card is a special type of paper made from a person's fingernails, unaffected by water or fire.
It represents the person's life force, and pieces of the same card are attracted to each other.
This means if Zephyr carried a Vivre Card, and the Marine Headquarters had a piece of it, Byakuya could use the card's attraction to locate Zephyr.
This was the most feasible solution. Byakuya quickly explained the plan to Smoker before rushing to Marine Headquarters to ask Sengoku for Zephyr's Vivre Card.
Convinced that Zephyr was in danger, Byakuya pushed his speed to the limit, not sparing any energy.
Utilizing Soru and Geppo to their fullest, he became a blur, leaving only a faint afterimage in the air.
On the streets below, people could only hear the repeated sonic booms of air exploding overhead, like artillery shells, sparking countless speculations.
In a coating shop on Sabaody Archipelago, an elderly white-haired man with glasses glanced up at the sky, squinting as he murmured,
"Which strong individual is this? To shatter the air with a single step... such terrifying power..."
With Byakuya pushing his limits, a journey that would normally take half a day was cut down to just ten minutes.
Given the urgency, he didn't have time to stop at the Marine headquarters gate to relay his message. Instead, he charged straight towards Fleet Admiral Sengoku's office.
The Marines inside the headquarters saw a black blur streak through the air, accompanied by thunderous booms, heading directly for Sengoku's office.
"What's happening? Is a pirate attacking Fleet Admiral Sengoku? This is outrageous! A single pirate daring to storm Marine Headquarters and attack the Fleet Admiral? Could it be another Golden Lion?"
Panic spread among the officers, with Vice Admirals rushing to support Sengoku and Rear Admirals organizing the soldiers to prepare for a larger assault.
They suspected that if there was one pirate, there might be an entire crew lying in wait nearby.
Byakuya hadn't anticipated causing such a commotion, but even if he had, he wouldn't have acted differently.
Zephyr's life was at stake, and there was no time to waste. Byakuya was straightforward; if someone treated him well, he reciprocated.
Zephyr had treated him like a son, and Byakuya regarded him like a father. Now that Zephyr was in trouble, Byakuya had to help him.
As Byakuya closed in on Sengoku's office, Aokiji suddenly appeared in front of him.
Dropping his usual lazy demeanour, Aokiji looked serious and extended his hand, ice spreading rapidly from it.
"No matter what, I won't let you pass. If you intend to attack Fleet Admiral Sengoku, you'll stay right here!"
Under Aokiji's control, the ice formed a nearly hundred-meter-thick curved wall, harder than steel.
Even cannon fire would struggle to break through it without thousands of rounds. Byakuya found the situation both funny and frustrating.
Aokiji had mistaken him for an intruder due to his speed. Even Aokiji hadn't recognized him.
To avoid wasting more time, Byakuya called out, "Admiral Aokiji, it's me, Byakuya!"
Aokiji, familiar with Byakuya, paused upon hearing his voice. He could recognize Byakuya's voice and realized the black blur was indeed him. "What's going on?"
"I have an urgent matter and need to see Fleet Admiral Sengoku immediately."
Hearing the urgency in Byakuya's voice, Aokiji realized something serious was happening.
He was about to disperse the ice wall when he saw Byakuya punch the air. In an instant, the thick ice wall shattered, and a perfect thirty-meter-wide hole blasted through it.
Byakuya dashed through the opening, leaving Aokiji stunned.
Looking at his hands, Aokiji muttered in disbelief, "That was my full-strength ice wall, wasn't it? No, it must have been just a third of my strength. Yes, just a third…"
