"Do you fear me?" Crystal asked conversationally after a few bouts of awkward silence and Adam coughed at the absurdity of the question.
Do I fear her? Do I fear anyone?
He wasn't sure what he felt for her was fear, it felt more like reverence. He respected her, and that was it. Calling it fear was overstating it.
"I don't fear you, I just like the way you handle things," he explained, suddenly less self-conscious. If Crystal could ask stupid questions, then he didn't need to worry. Even with how she carried herself, she was still a lady after all.
"You make me want to be better since you experienced a lot of things and came out on top. That's the kind of thing I'd love to emulate," he didn't know why he was giving her the details, but anything to take the reality of their situation away.
"Funny," she said at last and he raised an eyebrow. She didn't seem to be kidding.
"What's funny?" He asked.
