The end was near. Crystal could feel it since Adam didn't return. He never did that, not really. He'd always been the sort of person p stand for things, to make sure that everything was fine.
But now… she didn't know what happened, but she knew she'd lost him.
And there was no going back from that.
"Is Adam coming back? I miss him already," Esme said out of the blue, clutching Crystal's robe. It was a pretty worn-out thing, but she always held it close to her heart.
"Where did Nati go? Is she coming back?" Esme was hurting Crystal indirectly, even if she didn't know. The last thing Cincinnati said to Crystal was, "You changed. Or rather, I never knew you," and then she was gone. She said it in a whisper, no one else heard it. But it was haunting, the way her voice changed.
"Answer me!" Esme was about to throw a tantrum and Crystal couldn't have that.
