P.O.V – FLAIRE.
"Can't believe I was embarrassed by those two peasants, and why the hell is someone like sir Ares on their side". I say to myself in frustration as we wonder through the dungeon.
"And are we really here all alone?" I wonder to myself.
That would mean I have to protect myself, my brother and that weakling who is supposed to be my aunt.
She was given birth to after my grand dad got into an affair with an unknown woman, such scandal was an insult to our family, she was born three months before I was born.
Ever since I was born she had always been in her building, never coming out, only when really nesseccary.
I at first felt pity towards her, even my dad always tried to keep her company so she wouldn't feel too lonely, but, after I was told the truth by my maids that she was only here so her mum could loot some money from us I started to look at her in a different light, I was told by my dad that her mum died after giving birth to her, but my maid said I was only told that to prevent me from knowing the ugliness of the world since I was still little, when I asked my dad he only asked:
"Who told you that" and I walked out of his sight feeling deceived.
I know she has no fault, but I cant help but despise her cause of her mom trying to loot us off our money.
Thoouughhh deep down I wish I could forget this and try getting close with…hmmm?
What's that she's picking up, I see Claire pick up a dungeon… wait that's no dungeon rat.
"Claaiirree!!" I shout out to her as I rush towards her forming up flames in my hands.
As I leap into the air ready to rain down flames, the mimic posed as a dungeon rat transforms to its true form, a shadow kind of monster with a huge mouth filled with long teeth, it was about to swallow Claire when my brother rushed in taking Claire out of there, since Claire was now out of the way, I rained down heavy blue like flames on the mimic.
The whole place is foggy and I can't see anything, all of a sudden the mimic appears in my front about to stab me with its long claws when Alexander comes sliding in slicing off its fore arm from its arm.
He had just saved me there.
Then I hear a chanting from Claire.
"ABSORB!" Claire says out loud and all the dust and fog is sucked in by some kind of pebble that disappears as soon as everywhere becomes clear.
I look at Claire and she looks pissed, she has always been like that, she could tolerate any kind of act except for deceit,I don't know why though.
As the place clears up we could all see the mimic floating in the air with no lower limb and no face, with only a mouth as big as an abyss and as long as a thirty centimeter meter rule.
At this point it had already regenerated its severed arm.
It lets out a roar and as its doing that Arthur leaps towards it landing a heavy blow with his right hand on its left cheek sending it straight to the ground.
Before it hits the ground my brother slides underneath it and slices at it with his sword, he misses its neck but slices deeply at its chest and we all see dark smoke coming from the mark of its injury.
It tries to give us some distance but a long sword covered in mana flies towards it, stabs it and pins it to the wall, as soon as it tries to remove the sword, two arrows covered with mana are shot at it, pinning it to the wall at its shoulders.
I turn around to where the arrows and sword came from and I see sir Ares from the angle the sword came from and from the other angle I see Beatrix in a striking pose with a bow.
"ENTERIA COMBUSTE!" I hear Claire yell out as I turn around to see her with her arms raised up and a huge blue flame erupts from underneath the mimic and swallows it whole, it burns for sometime screaming in pain and we all just stand there watching it.
When a monster B-Rank and above is killed, it's mana is absorbed by the ones that kill it in other of their level of contribution.
As the monster dies, it's mana dispenses into us all, I got the lowest amount and Claire got the highest amount.
Sir Ares walks over to pick his sword and everyone relaxes for a moment.
I still stand there thinking to myself.
Monster are quite different from humans, in the sense that, just cause one is a C-Rank hunter doesn't mean that person and a C-Rank monster are on the same level.
Monsters usually have the advantage in terms of strength, defence and agility while humans in intelligence.
Monsters are usually of higher level than humans in the same rank, and then there are boss monsters.
To beat a C-Rank boss monster you would need a B-rank and two C-Ranks.
The mimic we just defeated was a B-Rank boss monster usually found as the boss of some B-Rank gate, meaning we would need at least an A-Ranker and three B-Rankers, but it was so easily defeated by the seven of us with no stress at all.
I look around at my teammates with a smile of confidence.
"We might just make it out alive even without our supervisors, even though maybe not unscathed." I said to myself as I began to walk towards my brother.
Such foolish thought from Flaire, but of course we cant really blame her, she had never been in an A-Rank gate and the highest rank of the A-Rank, she had no idea of what was to come.
