Two days had passed since Arlo ventured into the land of the Ghouls, yet he found nothing of interest.
His path was often obscured by a thick, orange smog. He wielded his katana, slicing through the fog like a hot knife through butter.
Ghouls would occasionally appear, drawn to the slightest sound Arlo made. Hundreds would quickly surround him, but as soon as he stood still, they would disperse after a brief sniff.
Arlo refrained from eating or drinking since his arrival, fearing the scent of meat might attract the Ghouls. He longed for bread, but all he had was lizard meat, a gift from Sven's men, which Mattie had killed.
His blessings or skills, even System Ascent, might not be working right now, but he could still feel the effects of his strength and endurance attributes. Despite not eating, he didn't feel hungry or weak. He had been walking non-stop for two days without feeling fatigued. Yet, he found nothing.
