'Where am I?'
Arlo questioned, standing in the midst of an all-encompassing darkness.
A small golden light flickered into existence before him. Arlo was rendered speechless, his thoughts scattered. He was drawn towards the light, following it without question.
Suddenly, he found himself standing before Old Arlo's throne.
Tears welled up in his eyes, trickling down his cheeks without his realization. He attempted to wipe them away, but his body refused to obey; it was as if he was encased in ice.
"SHINE!"
A kaleidoscope of lights, nearly 50 in number, materialized before Arlo. Gradually, they took form - all the people in his life who had passed away, from his sister and other child test subjects to Remi.
Among his people, Old Arlo sat on the throne. A shared sadness reflected in everyone's eyes. Old Arlo offered a gentle smile and said,
"The end is near."
"GASP!"
