"Many things transpired because of my actions,"
Hilde confessed, guilt washing over her after awakening. She had nearly caused Nanima's death and ripped Arlo's skin. Arlo recounted everything Gami had shared about the ghouls and other tribes, and the events that unfolded after she lost consciousness, including the old man's demand:
'To fetch five carts of water and fish in a week.'
Night had draped itself over Horatio Planet. Hilde and Arlo found themselves confined within the Cypress Village's prison cell. It was a daunting prospect, but they were the sole occupants of the building, with only two guards posted outside. The building was as dilapidated as the infirmary.
Escape would have been simple, but Arlo had no desire to flee. He was determined to endure and get through this dungeon, persuading Hilde to accompany him.
