After a long journey back to Germany, fatigue clung to Harper like a heavy blanket. It wasn't just her who felt the weight of exhaustion; Luna, her little fur baby, seemed to have succumbed to the travel weariness as well. For two days straight, the little dog had nestled into Harper's side, sleeping soundly, only rousing occasionally to eat, ask to get out for a potty, and promptly return to her slumber.
After what seemed like an eternity, they were finally prepared to take a deep breath and step outside. "Dear Lord..." Harper took a deep breath as she stretched.
"Hey, you're awake!" Ilse called cheerfully, appearing in the doorway with a steaming cup of coffee in hand. The aroma filled the room, stirring Harper's senses.
"God, yeah, I'm awake," Harper replied, a laugh escaping her lips as she realized just how long she had been asleep. It was a welcome change from the whirlwind of the past few weeks.
