The scene in question was the several hundred bodies that were held up by massive webs, plastered all around the cave. The fog was to hide the horrors of the corpses. The bodies were already beyond hope, with some of them missing limbs or even half their bodies gone.
But the worst was when Layla forcefully got back control and went up to a nearby web-spun corpse, only to find that face had been roughly devoured. The girl's eyes darkened as she stepped away from the horrific scene.
"After seeing all of this... And knowing what you've told me about Arakaali... What do you think of her now?" debated Layla as she spoke to the Brine King within her.
He remained silent as he had no words to speak... He knew that even if he had anything to say, it was best to not do so because of how angered the Dragoon was at that point. How disgusted she was for thinking that Arakaali was innocent.
"She's nothing more than a mindless beast that needs to be taken care of... As a Minor God who had my own followers, it is unacceptable for her to do such things to them. I have no restrictions if you've decided to do so," answered the Brine King as he sighed.
"I'm not angry at the fact that she would do this to her Temple followers... Because those aren't her followers..." answered Layla.
"Huh?"
"I will explain it with the group so you'd better listen in. Also, I've got something planned later... So don't take over until I've instructed you to do so. Is that clear?"
"Yes, my lady."
Back at the normal world, the Loplin went towards one of the cocoons and to open it up, noticing that most of the flesh and bones had been long digested.
"Judging by their wings, I think we've found the missing Tengui... But still, I never expected the Mother of Webs to this cruel to her own Temple followers," noted the rabbit as he nonchalantly walked away from the cocoon.
"I never expected you to be so fine about this... You're walking around as if it's one of your bunny gardens," said Teemo, twitching his nose.
"I'm not okay with this but I am used to it. It's better to not let our emotions cloud too much of our reactions."
"Yes and you have a very poor memory about the Tenguis," added Layla, as she shook her head at the rabbit.
"Pardon?"
"Female Tenguis are much bigger than the male ones... Plus, they have a very distinct way to tell female and male genders apart and that would be their wings. As we've seen, the females should have three pairs of wings..." explained the Dragoon.
"Maybe the poison has already dissolved them?" asked the confused Loplin.
"Have you seen how a spider kills before? In wildlife.."
"I'm not such a big fan of spiders so I can't tell you. If anything, I'd like to not be in this mission now..."
"Spiders kill by injecting venom into their prey, turning them into soup within their own body. Because can't eat properly... And they keep their food nice and ready in their Webs, creating cocoons."
"The wings that the Tenguis have are similar to birds but the key difference is that theirs is much more stronger and tougher than any other bones in their body. It's like how a Dragoon's wings have a higher defense status than most body armor."
"However, take a look at the ones we've seen... There's not even a trace of wings on them..."
"Because male Tenguis haven't got any..."
"They are the only race that looked remotely like the old race of Humans except for their limbs which are claws..." finished the Felidae as he used his blade to cut open a large cocoon, revealing all the bones inside but none resembling a wing.
"Well, at least it is slightly reassuring that the Mother of Webs is still sane enough to not kill her own followers."
"I've got no clue if you got your head sewn onto your neck wrongly but it's still quite morbid and unforgiving for that 'Mother' to kill this many Tenguis..."
It seemed like the Loplin wanted to continue but was halted by a disturbance in the wind. Before he knew it, Teemo had jumped in front of him to deflect a random light orb.
"Well, that's certainly one way to greet the guests at the doors... Though I wouldn't recommend it if you're trying to have new followers," said the Ankou as he grinned at the Tenguis standing before them.
"You've all been deemed as intruders in my Queen's eyes. As such, she has sent me to deal with you all!" shouted the being as she rushed towards the Felidae to slam her weapon against his blade.
