Chapter 71 - Time For Sleep

"Then what about me?! I will shed tears for you if I am forced to kill you!" yelled Layla as she launched herself towards the Loplin's arms.

The rabbit lost all of his balance and cool as the weight of the young girl forced him to slam his back onto the hard floor. If Layla was a fully formed Dragon, the poor bunny would've needed to start practicing handshakes with the Grim Reaper.

"Don't you ever say that! Do you hear me?! Don't you ever, EVER tell me that no one cares for you because I do! I nearly lost my head fighting that gigantic spider woman because she was going to kill you! I dealt with the Ankou so you wouldn't have to face him head-on!"

"And if you die... If you ever get yourself killed without my permission, I will dig your lifeless body up, grab your soul to stuff it back into your body, and kill you again!" cried the poor girl as she shook the rabbit by his collar.

Before Matt started seeing his ancestors in the form of stars, the male quickly grabbed the girl and pulled her close to an embrace. Layla silently sobbed as she lightly hit the Loplin's chest.

"I'm sorry... I shouldn't have said that... Please stop crying or else the bed chamber is going to flood with your tears and mucus..." pleaded the Loplin as he gently stroked Layla's hair.

"That's what you get for making me sad!" squealed the Dragoon as she pouted.

The Loplin chuckled, gradually sitting up while also carrying a full-sized Layla back onto the bed. As he laid her on the bed, Matt decided it was time to rest before the major fight the next day.

He took off his outfit, forgetting that he didn't have any other clothes underneath...

Or the fact that he was stripping in front of a Dragoon hottie. Just then, the door opened for a very excited Teemo to see how the outfit looked and felt on Matt, only to see a very awkward scene of the half-naked Loplin covering the girl's eyes.

"Ah. I seem to arrive at a very wrong time... I'll check back later. Or never..." said the confused Felidae as he slowly closed the door.

"I told you that someone is going to find us in a situation like this..." grumbled Matt as he changed into his usual tank top.

"That was a misunderstanding! And that was all you! I have no part in that..." said Layla, as she cuddled close to the rabbit, much to his surprise.

"You don't hate me?" questioned the rabbit, as he softly nuzzled the top of her hair.

"Of course not... Why would I? You tried protecting me from so many scary things... And you are one of the nicest bunnies I've ever met. With a beautiful and pure heart... Snuggy bunny!"

The Loplin felt his heart stop as the little Dragoon closed her eyes and snuggled close to his chest. Matt tried to find the words to reply but could not as he rested his chin on the girl's head.

How long has it been to hear such assuring things from someone? The male Loplin was an assassin and still kills for a living. Yet, despite all of that, his arms held a little Dragoon that claimed to not hate him, even though she was aware that he had killed so many of her kind.

Plus, Mattheos Rosenberg doesn't take compliments too well.

"Thank you."

As the rabbit fell asleep, Layla closed her eyes, trying to absorb and replenish her Elemental Energy while also meditating with the Brine King.

"You are quick to believe Sander's words and to confront Mattheos about it... Aren't you afraid that he might have killed you right there and then?" questioned the Brine King.

"Yes but that Loplin doesn't have the heart to... He might try to always pounce on me or show that he can dominate me but he's always struck me as a submissive kinda of male... Like a male wife?"

"I'm more confused than before but I guess whatever floats your boat... You shouldn't be too trusting with him is what I would warn you."

"Rich coming from the being that I've defeated and tried to take over my body. Speaking of which, when are you going to do so?" asked Layla as she sat in front of the Brine King.

"Hm? You mean, when am I going to take over your body?"

"Ye... You stopped the curse momentarily, hinting that you can activate it again after a certain condition is met."

"Yes but... I'd rather not kill my host's soul just for the mere purpose of walking the realm again. In fact, I want quite the opposite," replied the King of the Dead Sea.

"What?!"
