Diane thought for a while before nodding. "Actually, I don't regret marrying Phillip… I mean the experiences. Yes, they were horrible, but I think the stubborn and foolish me needed it."
As she said that, she stared at Christian to take in every fleeting emotion from his face, but she saw nothing.
There wasn't even something as simple as lifting a brow from him, and he didn't say anything to her, as if he was waiting for her to continue.
"Maybe, if I didn't go through the storms in my first marriage, we would have broken up at one point while dating because of all the flaws we pretended did not exist. It would have harmed us in the long run, and I'm glad that we have been able to work on ourselves during this long painful break and bring out the best versions of ourselves."
Christian's gaze softened. He didn't think that there could be so much wisdom being spilt from those perfect lips.
